I knew of Drayton from his time in Charleston, and then began a professional friendship with him when I worked for the Sumter Daily Item and he was with the television station. As can be imagined, we ended up covering many of the same stories. We enjoyed many congenial conversations - often about Charleston, and he was always entertaining. It weas not long ago that I thought of him, and remembered those days with fondness. I hope the years since I saw him last were fruitful and good. My thoughts are with him and his family.
