Clarence Bauer Obituary

Clarence A. Bauer, Jr., 87, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 1, 1938, in Washington, D.C., Hank was the beloved son of the late Clarence A. Bauer, Sr. and Bertha Bauer. A proud and dedicated patriot, Hank served honorably in the United States Air Force for over 21 years. Hank married the love of his life, Martha Bauer, for 63 wonderful years. Their bond was one of enduring love, support, and shared joy. Together, they built a life grounded in hard work, family values, and mutual respect. A man of strong will, Hank was a great example of a "do-it-yourself" spirit. He found joy in working with his hands. Whether it was gardening, tinkering with his tractor, or completing projects around the house, he was never one to sit still when there was work to be done. Hank also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: watching football, fishing now and again, and most importantly, spending cherished time with his grandchildren, who he loved deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Bauer; his children: Anne Driggers (Daryl) and Rhonda Burbage (Greg); his grandchildren: Billy Joe Pavlovich, Patrick Pavlovich, Taylor Burbage, and Landen Burbage; his great grandchildren: Brooke Boatwright (James) and Ashton Pavlovich; his great great grandchild, Trey; his siblings: Marge Brothers, Ted Bauer, Janet Delp, and Michael Bauer; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children, Leo L. Pavlovich, Jr. and Bonnie Sue Bauer; his parents; as well as his sister, Susie Hill. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Dorchester Memory Gardens- Oakbrook Chapel, beginning at 10:30am. Burial will immediately follow.

Earlier today

Uncle Hank was a wonderful man!!
I specifically remember one instance where my Dad, Tony, and Uncle Hank were just sitting around and talking.
From around the corner, the Pearson and Theron brothers pulled up in their hot rod and boasted to my dad and Uncle Hank how fast their car can go.
They offered them to hop in and Pearson would show them that they can get up to over 100 mph in a few seconds.
Uncle Hank said he’d go only if he could drive. The two brothers declined and Uncle Hank just looked at my dad and said, “ good luck, I wouldn’t get in that car with them unless I was driving”. My dad said that sounds like good advice and politely declined too.
That was Uncle Hank; careful, logical and someone who wanted to be in control. A real do it yourselfer.
That memory stuck with me and I tried to live my life the same way.
You’ll be surely missed Uncle Hank, and I’ll pray for you and Aunt Martha every day!
Love you very much, your nephew, Joe Cuozzo
