Clare Miller Obituary

Clare Foster "Mimi" Miller MATTHEWS, NC - Clare Foster "Mimi" Miller, 73, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2016 in her home after a long battle with COPD/Emphysema. Born November 28, 1942 in Queens, NY she was the daughter of the late Stephanie and William H. Foster. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Caswell A. "Buddy" Miller, her children: Scott (Merrill) Miller of Orlando, FL, Ginny (Rick) Cobb of Weddington, NC, Amy (Steve) Smith of Aiken, SC; her brother, Robert (Mary) Foster, of Gainesville, GA; her 10 grandchildren, Wyatt Miller, Michael Cobb, Sydney Cobb, Katelyn Cobb, Tyler Cobb, Zachary Cobb, Olivia Cobb, Sibylle Smith, Jon Mark Smith, Bethany (Smith) Rodriguez; her nieces & nephews: Katie Foster (Michael) Allen, Avery Allen, and Ross Foster. Clare was a selfless person who always thought of others first. Everything she did from being a volunteer at church, youth group leader, office manager for several family businesses, cub scout mom, driver to many practices, sandwich maker for all the neighborhood kids, savior to stray animals ... She did with a pure desire to put others above herself. The family businesses would not have succeeded without her organizational skills and countless hours of hard work. Many children know Christ because of her work as a youth group leader. Her door was always open to people in need whether it was a homeless person, friend, stray animal or simply by having a full fridge for the neighborhood kids. Famous for her annual Thanksgiving Feast, (which she made every year for 50+ years without fail), her sausage balls, her brother's favorite corn chowder, her Charleston red rice and many other wonderful meals. Her selflessness was demonstrated in these and many other ways, too many to list here. We would also like to acknowledge the "angels" from Hospice; and will always be thankful for the compassion and care you gave during Clare's final days. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org/, or Hospice of Indian Trail, NC 156 Corporate Boulevard, Indian Trail, NC 28079. Clare and I shared that we had both become Christians in our young adult life. Her faith was strong and her heart was always for people. She had an intense love for her grandchildren.

Our family celebrated Clare's life with the BarBQ she requested we have.I miss her terribly and the things that only she and I could talk about. She was voted Most Likely to Succeed by her high school class at Charleston High and she did Succeed!

Dear Bob and Mary:
Jim and I are so very sorry for your loss.We were not fortunate enough to know Clare's beautiful family but from knowing her we realize they have certainly lost a bright light on this earth as we know it. They are in our prayers as well. I lost my biological brother 7/19 and just returned from Hendersonville, NC yesterday from his celebration of life so I feel your intense loss Bob. Ironically Jim & I have 10 grandchildren as well and are known to them as "Mimi and Buddy". You and your family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

With grace, Lisa Ball Rabon

Ginny and Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of your sweet mom's passing. I will never forget her kindness and how welcoming she was to me as a child. She always made me feel right at home when we were growing up. I am praying for you all as you grieve and rejoice that she is breathing freely and joyfully in heaven.
