Clara was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, which later became Church of the Good Shepherd. She was active in the choir and the altar guild. She was employed by Perry-Mann Electric Company and the James Island Public Service District for most of her career as a secretary / office clerk. Herndon, Jr. The family would like to thank Clara's caregivers over the last few years, including Angelic Home Care and Concierge Services at Ashley Park, Crescent Hospice (Candace, Melody and Gretchen) and the staff at Oak Harbor Healthcare. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made in Clara's memory to the Church of the Good Shepherd (1393 Miles Dr., Charleston, SC 29407) or to American Legion Baseball (c/o Tony Cadden, 1176 River Road, Johns Island, SC 29455). Nancy and family, I remember your mom always smiling....and most particularly at the softball games years ago when we all played for St Peter's. She and your dad were so proud of your 3rd base prowess ....but did worry that you would hurt your fingers/hands in some way. Nevertheless, they were fun to be around. Ashley, Cathy and I are so sad for you and your family....may she rest in peace with your dad in Heaven.
love, M.E.

Clara and her husband Mel were well liked by many. She was a Christian and was witty. Enjoyed bowling with her and being around her. She will be missed by many. May she rest in peace with her husband. Thoughts and prayers for her family.

Dear Clara.....I remember her well from the 70s. She taught me how to work at an office! Loved that lady!
