Stephen Wood Obituary
Stephen J. Wood, 76, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 29th, 1949, in Queens, New York, Stephen was the son of the late George Carter and Marie Josephine (Hogan) Wood. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School and went on to proudly serve in the Army Reserves. Following his honorable discharge, Stephen devoted himself to a long and fulfilling career in sales with Triangle Pacific, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
On May 11th, 1991, Stephen married his best friend and the love of his life, Linda Walter. Together they shared more than three decades of laughter, love, and unforgettable adventures. From the rolling hills of Ireland to the peaceful coastlines of Oregon, and the wide-open beauty of Montana, Stephen treasured every moment spent exploring the world with Linda by his side.
But above all else, Stephen was a family man through and through. His happiest times were those spent surrounded by the people he loved-at family cookouts, holiday gatherings, or quiet evenings just being together. His gentle spirit, infectious smile, and easygoing nature made everyone feel welcome and loved. He found immense pride and joy in being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Stephen had a passion for sports, particularly football and his Philadelphia Eagles. He eagerly looked forward to the start of the football season every year and worked diligently on his Fantasy Football team winning first place several years. He also loved the Philadelphia Phillies and his wardrobe proudly reflected his loyalty with an impressive collection of jerseys. Stephen also found great joy in playing golf, a sport he truly enjoyed both for the game itself and the time spent outdoors with friends.
Stephen will be remembered for his quick wit, his unforgettable storytelling, and his ability to make everyone in the family laugh. His humor, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stephen is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Linda (Walter) Wood; his daughters, Nicole Marie McLaughlin and Jessica Lynn Matthews; his brother, Glenn Wood and wife Karen; his sister, Ellen Jones and husband Larry; and his four grandchildren who brought him endless joy-Devyn Leigh McLaughlin, Grasyn Morgan McLaughlin, Evan James Matthews, and Kylie Jean Matthews.
A celebration of Stephen's life is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Stephen, to the Tree of Life Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania or to the PAN Foundation
