Christina Mizell Obituary

Christina Smart Mizell N. CHARLESTON - God, in his wisdom, chose to take our beloved one, Christina "Christy" Smart Mizell, to be with Him on April 15, 2015, following a brief illness. Christy was born to Avice "Kitty" Smart and the late Leslie Smart on March 20, 1949. She was born into a loving, Christian home. On September 6, 1969 she married her best friend, James "Jimmy" Mizell. Together they raised three children with joy, grace and loving discipline. Christy instilled in each of her children not only a love of music and life but, most importantly, she dedicated them to God and encouraged them to each have a relationship with her Lord and Savior. Never a loss for words, Christy's true voice was spoken through her love of music. She enjoyed playing both the piano and organ and strived to encourage others, including her countless students, to pursue their enjoyment of music. She was always eager to give of her musical talent to play for anyone that asked. Christy was a giver at heart. She was eager to give of her time, her resources, her love, a delicious meal, a reassuring word and her prayers. Christy was an active member of Wando Woods Baptist Church. Christy is survived by her husband of 45 years, James "Jimmy" Mizell of North Charleston, SC; her son, Kevin Mizell of Charleston, SC; her daughter, Katrina Floyd and son-in-law Ryan Floyd of North Charleston; her daughter, Jennifer Montgomery and son-in-law Hunter Montogmery and their children Emily and Colin; her mother, Avice "Kitty" Smart of North Charleston; her brother, Rev. Timothy Smart and his wife Brigitte of Graniteville, SC; her sister, Robin McMillan and her husband David of North Charleston, SC; and her sister-in-law, Anita Dorman Smart of Yulee, FL. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Smart and her brothers, Michael Smart and Leslie "Skip" Smart, Jr. Her viewing will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of celebration and remembrance will take place Sunday, April 19, 2015, in Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue, at 3:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Charles Yoho. A graveside interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park and will be officiated by her brother, Rev. Timothy Smart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue, N. Charleston, SC 29405. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." (1 Cor 2:9) Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

The staff of the Lowcountry Pregnancy Center is devastated to hear of Christy's passing. In addition to all of the wonderful attributes mentioned in her obituary, Christy was a strong advocate for precious unborn children. She volunteered and worked within the ministry of the Lowcountry Pregnancy Center for years. There are many children alive today as a result of Christy's service. Likewise, there have been many souls won to the Lord because of Christy's witness. Jimmy, Ms. Kitty and children - we are praying for you. We loved Christy dearly!

My deepest sympathy to Christy's family. I am truly saddened by this loss. Christy was one of my bridesmaids at my wedding in 1968. Through the years we lost touch but reconnected last October. It was awesome seeing her and I was happy for the chance meeting that brought us back together. I will greatly miss her and our renewed friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad and difficult time. May you find comfort in all your precious and cherished memories.
