Chris Blakely Obituary

Christopher Michael "Chris" Blakely, aged 50, of Huger, SC, died Saturday in Cordesville. Born October 20, 1974, in Charleston, SC, he was the beloved son of James Rodger Blakely and Robin Williams Blakely. Chris was a dedicated machine operator at Nucor Steel and had previously worked with Tidewater Construction and Wolfe Construction. His memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, August 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until the hour of service. In honor of Chris, attendees are encouraged to wear camouflage. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Outdoor Dream Foundation, PO Box 802, Anderson, SC 29622 outdoordream.org Chris was a member of the McClellanville Pentecostal Holiness Church and actively participated in the Sportsman's Hunting Club and the I.P. Still Hunting Club. An avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed participating in and judging Field Trials. His love for the outdoors was matched by his commitment to raising funds for various charities and conservation groups. Chris loved listening to music, spending time on the water, but most of all cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Thomas Blakely; his parents of Bethera; his daughter, Ashley Blakely of Huger; his brothers, Rodger D. Blakely and his wife, Nicole, of Moncks Corner, and J. Lamar Blakely of Santee Circle; his nephew, Cameron Blakely; and his nieces, Maddy Blakely and Savannah (Daniel) Cruz.
