Cheri Matthews Obituary

Cheri Yvette Matthews (Proudfit) MONCKS CORNER - Cheri Yvette Matthews, nee Proudfit, passed away on 18 December 2022 at Trident Medical Centre after a stroke at her home in Moncks Corner. Cheri was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. She grew up around the USA and United Kingdom in a military family. Her father, Campbell Elsworth Proudfit, a USAF pilot, passed in 2001, was from Pikeville, Kentucky. Her mother, Mercedes Beverly (Tikie) Proudfit, a realtor, passed in 1993, was from Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She was the eldest of four children, William (Bill) George Proudfit, Hong Kong, Curtis Campbell Proudfit, Summerville, South Carolina, and David Andrew Proudfit, Greenwich, Connecticut, passed in 2016. Cheri attended secondary school in the UK and Summerville, SC, and attended Mohawk Community College, Utica, New York, As an adult, Cheri lived in the South Carolina Low Country and upstate New York. She was divorced from Chris Matthew and did not remarry. Cheri had failing health for years, but her death was unexpected. Cheri was fiercely independent, always hopeful about her future, and helpful to all people. Cheri's love and kindness are sorely missed by her friends and family. A celebration of life memorial is planned for Sunday, April 2, 2-5pm, Oasis Christian Counseling, 117 East Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
