Charlotte Jordan Obituary

Charlotte Crosby Jordan CHARLESTON - Charlotte Crosby Jordan, 88, passed away at her Charleston home on Saturday, August 28th. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3rd, at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 626 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407. Charlotte was born in Walterboro, South Carolina, on August 11, 1928, daughter of Clifton O. Crosby and Addie J. Crosby. The Crosby's operated the Mayflower and Magnolia Inns in Walterboro along with the Eat Shop Restaurant. Charlotte received her degree from Columbia College. She was an elementary school teacher for 36 years while living in Georgia. Upon retiring, she moved back home to Charleston where she lived out her years with her family. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church. Charlotte is survived by Russell A. Jordan, husband of 35 years, daughters Kathryn B. McLendon and Dianne J. Cooper of Charleston, grandchildren Ashley M. Butler, Justin J. Butler, Taylor E. Butler and Kathryn G. Cooper, sons-in-laws Lewis H. McLendon and Harry H. Cooper, III, granddaughter-in-law Michelle E. Holland, niece Lynn S. Shaddrix, other family, friends and long-time care-giver Janie White. Charlotte is preceded in death by sister Marguerite C. Smith, brother Edward W. Crosby, and nephew Russell E. Smith, III, MD.
