Charles Thomson Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Allen Thomson Charleston - Charles "Chuck" Allen Thomson died Monday, April 29, 2019 in Charleston, SC. His graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Monday in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Those who wish to remember Chuck in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church, 5931 Murray Drive, Hanahan, SC 29410. Chuck was born October 2, 1936 in Upper Darby, PA, the first son of Albert F. Thomson and Minnie Maule Thomson. He graduated from Avon Grove High School in 1955 and remembered his high school years with much affection. He served as his class president and lettered in every sport while there. After attending the Philadelphia Pharmacy and Science College in 1956 and 1957, Chuck decided to join the US Air Force. He met the love of his life, Bea, while stationed in St. Louis, MO. After a courtship of letters, they married in 1958 and were happily together for almost 59 years. Chuck often recounted the many adventures and good times he and BeaBea had while raising their two daughters and traveling with the military. In their retirement years, Chuck and BeaBea went on over 40 cruises and enjoyed every one of them because "they were together." After leaving the military, Chuck worked with Picker Medical from 1972-1980 and then finished his working career at Havertys Furniture Co. in Charleston. For 18 years, Chuck was the "the old guy with the bow tie" to all his loyal customers. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bessie "Bea" Lewis Thomson; and his brother, Herbert J. Thomson. Surviving are both of his daughters: Cheri T. Warren (David) of Charleston, SC and Theresa T. Sabert (George) of Lebanon, OH; his cherished grandchildren: Max Sabert, Caroline Warren, Nickolas Sabert (Ali) and Catherine Warren. Chuck and Bea were beloved members of Yeamans Park Presbyterian for many years. I'll always remember them with smiles on their faces, Bea's beautiful hats and Chuck's signature bow ties!! They were delightful to be around. We have missed Chuck at church since Bea died, but know he has been loved and cared for by his family these last years. Condolences to all the family. It makes me smile to know that Chuck and Bea are now together in eternity.
