I Remember playing baseball basketball with Charles kids, as well as trading sports cards as young kids (His favorites at the time were by far the Atlanta Braves players) used to always enjoy his company. I remember his mom being so nice. He was definitely a Clemson fan even before middle school. Maybe its true and the good do die young... Our condolences and sorrow goes out to him & his family's loss.

Shay and Lil, the world has lost a wonderful person in Charles, and we've lost a treasured family member. The pain at this loss is imposssible to describe. We love Charles so much, and miss him terribly. I can still remember holding him for his Baptism because you had hurt your back. I'm so proud of what Charles accomplished and who he was, and the great impact he had on others during a far too short life. I pray this will bring you some comfort in time. Know that we are always here for both of you.

Hey Shay & Lil: words are not good enough to express the sorry, sadness, emotional feelings about the loss of your kids.. I wish to send prayers of strength to you all, knowing that so many people and your friends are also heart broken to your situation.
There will never be enough words to express sadness, and you will have to gather strength to live ahead, as you so need to do.

Know blessings from unspoken people are with you in your truly unfortunate situation. I am so sorry, and send you personal prayers for strengths and energies to work forward.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoney,
I am so sorry to hear about Charles. I met him my 9th grade year at SIA. I was nervous about coming to a new school, but Charles made things real easy for me. I could always count on him to brighten my day, no matter what kind of mood I was in. He kept the same charm all through out high school. I remember on Graduation Day he looked at me and said "Brooke you are leading us off so make sure you do it right and do not trip because we were told to do what you did and it wouldn't look good to have all 15 of us trip going down the aisle." He was always able to make me laugh. I know he is up there making God and everybody else smile too. God Bless you and your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Charles while working at Camp Ocoee. Charles helped to make our summer memorable. He was a little shy at first, but once he opened up he showed us all how amazing he was. Camp holds a special place in my heart and Charles will always be a part of those memories. Your family is in my prayers.

April 13, 2007

My Lily and Shay,
My heart not only breaks for such a loss to me and my family but most of all for the two of you. Charles was truly blessed to have you as parents and you were certainly blessed to have such an awesome son. He grew from a precious, inquisitve little boy into a fine, intelligent young man who had such a outgoing and loving way about him. He was always a gentleman, always happy, always curious, always interested, always fun and so funny. He was good to everyone & a best friend to Gray. I will never forget our time around the campfire at Oconee this past fall. We all laughed so hard and enjoyed each other so much - your family and mine and Charlie.
We will try to get thru this together, one breath at a time and honor Charles' memory. He would want us to enjoy life as he did & stay close to each other. He is enjoying the full beauty of nature now & we will be together with him again some day. Until then, we will stick together and persevere on. With all my love and hugs,
Lynn

I met Charles sophomore year through Emma. He was one of those last nice guys around; he will be greatly missed. He was always around to make people laugh and feel better. While I wasn't from Moncks Corner either, I considered myself a MC kid at heart. I'll always remember at Emma's Toga Party; he dressed up in Thomas the tank engine sheets and carried around a Thomas the tank engine. Just know that him and the Lord are looking down on us right now, and I know he's got that great smile on his face!

Shay and Lil,
Although we have only known Charles for a short time, he was one of the most respected young men we knew. As parents we all have desires for our own children to grow up to be just like Charles. Take comfort in knowing that in addition to all his outstanding accomplishments, perhaps one of his best qualities was that of being a such great role model for our youth today. Personally, we hope that our children will one day grow up to be just as pleasant, respectful, and caring as was Charles. Our memories of Charles will always be that smiling face and cheerful personality. May God bless you and your family during this time.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoney,
I worked at camp and went to Key Largo with Charles and some others in 2004. We had a great time in Florida, running out of gas in the middle of the ocean, having raccoons at our campsite and catching squirrels in boxes! That song 'Wave on Wave' by Pat Green reminds me of him every time I hear it because he played it every time we got in the car on that trip! It will now forever remind me of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoney,

I just want you to know that Charles meant a lot to us all here at Clemson, and he will be greatly missed. As I speak of Charles to others that never got to know Charles as I did, I just tell them how great of a guy he was to his friends and family. He will be missed by us all.

Charles was the type of guy you wanted to have there when you need a smile, becuase before you left the room he would have you and all the others in the room smiling. I hate to see such a great friend go, but he and Lord are looking over us all now with that smile and laugh that Charles always had, only to bring us to realize how happy he was about the life he lived. I will miss him greatly as you and your family will.

God Bless you Mr. and Mrs. Stoney.

Today, the world has lost a remarkable person...

It is during times like this that words are not enough to express the sorrow and sadness felt by all those that were touched by Charles's great nature and cheerful spirit. Charles and I met during our freshman year in Chemistry Lab. Over the past 5 years, as we both completed our undergraduate studies at Clemson University, our friendship continued to grow stronger and stronger. Charles definitely embodied all those characteristics of a true a friend. I am certain he will be missed by many - I for sure miss him greatly. Please accept my heartiest condolences. May God give you both strength and comfort during this difficult time.

I really can't express how dear Charles was to Justin and myself. Charles was around every weekend and him and Justin played trivia together almost every week with Cox and Craig. Justin always had a new story to tell about Charles and it always made me laugh. Just last weekend we were tailgating for the baseball game and Charles put his hamburger bun on the grill and added Sour Cream and Onion Chips to add flavor to his bun. He always had a that goofy grin on his face and he always kept us laughing. Our parents loved him at tailgates his sense of humor always kept us laughing. We adored Charles on the river on the summer afternoons when he drove all the way from Johns Island to come to Moncks Corner to hang out on the river with us. He had a sincere heart and we truely loved him. Charles cared more about himself than others and he will be truely truely missed not only in the Moncks Corner community but in the Clemson community as well. We love Charles and always will. We've had so many memories with Charles over the past couple of years and he has truely changed our lives and he will be sorely missed.

Dear Shay and Lil,
My heart is broken for you. Charles is in God's hands, you can rest assured of that. Although he is not physically with you, he will be near. I am so honored to have taught him in 5th and 6th grade. I was so very proud of his success at Clemson. I will forever remember his sweet smile, and his kindness to others. He was a blessing to many on this earth.
With Love,

Rafael Marquez

I am so far away and wish I could be there with the family on Tuesday. He had such a great spirit and his smiling face will be missed greatly. God bless you, I'm thinking of you every day.
