Charles Shuler Obituary

Charles L. "Charlie" Shuler, Jr. HOLLY HILL, SC - Charles L. "Charlie' Shuler, Jr., 57, of the Providence Community near Holly Hill, husband of Robin S. Shuler, died Monday, November 3, 2014. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Friday in the Providence United Methodist Church, 4833 Old State Road, Holly Hill, with Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Shuler Family Cemetery, Shuler Belt Road, Providence. A life-long resident of the Providence Community, Charlie was a son of Charles L. Shuler, Sr. and Sue Weathers Shuler. He was a graduate of Holly Hill Academy and attended Clemson University. Charlie was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church, where he previously served as chairman of the trustees. He was president of the Orangeburg County Fair Board. Charlie was a former member of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Posse, Providence Volunteer Fire Department, Vance Masonic Lodge, and Young Farmers. Charlie was an avid golfer, and was the community handyman. Surviving are his wife of Providence; parents of Providence; daughter, Meredith (Heath) Prescott of Providence; sons, William Collier and Wesley Collier (Kalyn Squires), both of Bowman; a granddaughter, Milly Kate Prescott of Providence; sister, Susan (Dave) Shuler of Providence; brother, Jackie (Susan) Shuler of Columbia; in-laws, Robert and Gayle Shuler of Bowman; sister-in-law, Teresa (Grayson) Howell; brother-in-law, Marty Shuler; nieces and nephews; a longtime family friend, Molly Hilliard and many friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. this Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Providence UMC, C/O Mrs. Gayle Rush, 4037 Vance Rd., Holly Hill, SC 29059.
