Mr. Rolfe, Mary Beth, Erik - no words are adequate now. I’m overwhelmed by memories, many the same as I read here from Al, Wilbur, Teddy, Joey, and I feel so privileged to have them. Through the grade school years, Moultrie High, Carolina, and after, what I remember most when I think of Charles is laughter and adventure. Hangin’ out at Choppy’s, road trips to Florida, camping in NC, The Stones, the infamous Woodrow Candle, Russell House Twads, countless trips from Mt. P to Columbia – the list goes on and on. I feel fortunate to have been touched by his spirit, and in these hard times I hope you can find solace in this thought- energy can never be destroyed, only transformed. Charles was energy, and his spirit lives on. May peace from The One be with all of you.

Mary Beth and Erik,my deepest thoughts and sympathies are with you in this moment of life. Charles' smile and look upon life and its travails was always encouraging in his reflections and thoughts. Since first meeting him in pharmacy school in 1975 and through out the subsequent years,i only can smile and think of all the good times and happy moments spent with him and around him.I wish the best for you and for Erik. I will have you in my prayers and Charles will always be in my thoughts and memory.

Mary Beth, My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your son.. One of my biggest regets is not keeping up with Charles over the past 20 years or so. We grew to be great friends during our time at Carolina and shared a love of the outdoors, music, and football and renewed our friendship when I moved to Greenville in the early 80's. "Cactus" was one of the handiest guys I knew and was always the first one to lend a tool or offer help in patching a roof or replacing a water heater. I and my family will miss Charles but will cherish the good times and his friendship.

I was sorry to hear about Charles - one of my best high school buddies. It seems that the fondest memories from that time involve Charlie - skiing, cruising in the Malibu, playing ball around his home in the old "Indian village', and so on. Charlie always maintained a balance between work, school and friends that took most of us a little longer to get. His success was certainly no surprise to any of us.
My sympathies to the family and, Charlie, thanks for your unwavering friendship those many years ago.

I would like to send my deepest, deepest sympathies to you and Charlie's son; so sorry that we never got to meet. I met Charles in the seventh grade and we remained friends through college. I have so many memories of camping and skiing in North Carolina, and going out on his boat. I happened to be there when he had the accident with the oyster bed. In the 10th grade Charlie gave me a nickname I still can't escape from. I've thought about him a lot over the years; his name always coming up in conversations. I really can't express my sorrow, he was such a great guy.

Mary Beth, my wife and son want to express our deep sympathy to you and Erik for your loss. Our hearts are heavy for you, but we and others in the CCES family hope and pray we can somehow, in any small way, lighten the weight and help you continue on. The best and brightest in my family was taken from me too early. It seems the ones with the best hearts always are. And I know, like I do mine, you will miss him dearly.

Mary Beth and Eric, My deepest sympathy to you both. I don't know how you feel but I have had a spouse to pass unexpectedly and my heart breaks for you. I have worked for Charlie for 4 years and knew him long before that from Medical Arts Pharmacy. We all loved him and will miss him forever. He was as kind and good hearted as they come.
Verily, Verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

I just heard about Charles' passing and am so sad. We were very good friends in college and lost touch sometime after. We got to be good friends our freshmen year at Carolina, and really had a ball that year. I tried a couple of times over the years to make contact with no success. I remember him as an intelligent and good person with a great sense of humor. My thoughts are with his family
