Charles Parker Obituary

Charles William Parker N. CHARLESTON - Charles William Parker of North Charleston, SC, husband of Dorothy Mason Parker, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, surrounded by family at Hospice of Charleston after a brief illness. Charlie was born in Rowesville, South Carolina on February 19, 1930 to Lillie Belle Metts Parker and Charles Warner Parker. Charlie was a Korean War Army veteran and was retired from Amstar Corporation and Melcer Tile. He was a long time member of and deacon at First Baptist Church of North Charleston and a current member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Charlie served in many roles throughout the Charleston Baptist Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will always be missed. Charlie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dot; a son, K. Russell Parker of Hanahan; a daughter, Kimberley Parker Williams and her husband John of North Charleston; five grandchildren, Heather R. Ford, Justin J. Parker, Kara R. Parker, Jessica M. Ford, Alyssa R. Parker; one great grandchild, Daniel Alan R. Dohrs Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Annie Metts Kinsey, and a brother, George F. Parker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Park Baptist church, 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan SC, 29420, or to Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mount Pleasant SC 29464. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Highland Park Baptist church, 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan SC, 29420, Reverend Bob Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. Mrs. Parker and Family, I just heard from my mother that Mr. Parker had passed. Though I haven't seen Mr. Parker or any Parker's for that matter in a long while, over the years I have often thought about him and what a good man he was. His was a life well lived and his memory will live thru his family. I know I'll never forget him.
