Charles McMurtry Obituary

Charles Arthur McMurtry, 100, of Elizabethtown passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, at his daughter's home in Cecilia.

He was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Elizabethtown to his parents, Charles Arthur and Dolly Sherrard McMurtry.

Mr. McMurtry was a retired civil service employee and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and Korea.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Louise Hargroeder McMurtry; his parents and his siblings, Melvin Sherrard, Tom and Harold Humphrey and Madeline Lutz.

Survivors include his son, David McMurtry (Violette); daughters, Lynn Autry and Eva Myers (Ricky); grandchildren, Melissa Lanham, Susan Riggs, Matt Autry, Greg McMurtry and Jessie Pruett; and his great-grandchildren, Justin and Morgan Lanham, Bodie, Logan and Trace Riggs and Caidyn and Izaiah Pruett.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Alicia Akridge officiating. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
