Charles Krecklow Obituary

Charles Krecklow EVANS, GA - Charles "Chuck" Krecklow, 94, passed peacefully into the heavenly realm on November 2, 2025. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 55 years, Anne Eitel Krecklow, in 2018. Raised in Bakersfield, CA, Chuck graduated from UCLA and entered the U.S. Air Force, where he attained the rank of Colonel. During his 26 years in the service, he and Anne were acknowledged by Lt. General Carlton as "one of our finest husband and wife teams" in the U.S. Air Force. Chuck logged over 4,600 hours flying time in bombers and various other aircraft. After being promoted to Lt. Col, he became the Aide to Lt. General Carlton, Commander of 15th Air Force. Chuck later became the Executive Officer when the General became the Commander of the Military Airlift Command. In this assignment, he got a chance to travel the world. After the military, Chuck took a position in the HR Office of MUSC. He rose to the job of Assistant Personnel Director before permanently retiring after 12 years. His passion for serving never wavered. He spent 35 years participating in and leading ministries as a member of Grace UMC in Charleston and many years in the Civitan Club. He is survived by his son, Chuck, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, daughter, Nancy and her life partner, Linda, two grandchildren, Daniel and his wife, Isabella, and Kenneth, along with many nieces and nephews. His unconditional love for his family, his caring, and the help he provided as a volunteer for many years will be greatly missed. His remains will be interred in Savannah following a burial with full military honors. Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484. Chuck Krecklow hired me to work for him at MUSC. He was a great person to work for, i.e. encouraging, supportive, thoughtful and just a good person. He attended my retirement party in 2005. I also knew Anne who worked in the Office of MUSC's President and she was warm, gracious with a wonderful sense of humor. I consider myself blessed to have known both of these wonderful people. I will remember them in my prayers.
