Charles Huff Obituary

Charles McCurdy Huff ATLANTA, GA - Charles McCurdy Huff, 69, of Atlanta, GA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Mr. Huff was an avid enthusiast of the arts in all forms: he cherished his art and book collection that he curated throughout his life, was an avid appreciator of films, musicals, and the theater, and inspired a love of music in his children by introducing them to his eclectic taste in music, ranging from Joao Gilberto to ELO to Claude Debussy. It is difficult to summarize the impact his personality had on people's lives in a paragraph: Mr. Huff could be described as industrious, distinctive, and quick-witted. Born in March of 1953 in Athens, GA, Charles McCurdy Huff grew up with his older brother, Richard Palmer Huff, Jr., and parents, Emily Anne Brooks Huff and Richard Palmer Huff in Danielsville, GA. Upon graduating high school in Madison County, Charles obtained a BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia and proceeded to work in advertising in Atlanta. It was in Atlanta that Mr. Huff met the woman who would become his wife, Rhonwyn Marie Valdes Huff, and they were married on April 12, 1986. Mr. and Mrs. Huff then moved to Charleston, SC, where he founded a real estate firm, Special Properties, LLC, and happily enjoyed networking and selling homes, land, and commercial buildings in Charleston, SC for twenty years. After the passing of his wife, Mr. Huff returned to his Atlanta roots, continuing to work in real estate with Harry Norman Realtors and managing his own properties. He was greeted with open arms in Atlanta by old friends and made many new ones, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. His booming voice and charismatic laugh will be missed by many. He is survived by his two children, Emily Palmer Huff and Joseph Moran Huff, his son-in-law, Gordon Moultrie Ball, his soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Katherine Lloyd Posey, and his grandson, Charles August "Gus" Ball. A service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street in Charleston, SC at 2:00 p.m. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
