Charles Hudson Obituary




HUDSON, Charles Born in Edwardsville, IL, Chuck graduated from Edwardsville High in 1948, and from University of Illinois with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1952. In 1952 he joined the Air Force Reserve, retiring in 1971. Over his career, he worked for Caterpillar Tractor and International Harvester Company (now Navistar). At the time of his retirement from IHC, Chuck was Manager of Environmental Staff. He served and chaired on a variety of professional committees, including the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Engine Manufacturing Association, the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association and the State of Colorado's Clean Air Advisory Committee. Chuck leaves his wife Clairlyn McGraw Hudson, currently residing in Mt. Pleasant, SC, daughter Cathy, son-in-law David Hoeflin and granddaughter Caitlyn Hoeflin. A memorial service will be held Dec 2nd, 2006, at 2pm at the Rodenberg Chapel of Franke at Seaside. The service will be followed by a fellowship hour. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Coral Ridge Ministries. Arrangements by Palmetto Cremation Society, Charleston. Sometimes Charles, sometimes Chuck and often Charlie - whatever we called him he always had a smile and was a true friend. I think his dog's name was Lucky. Chuck, Ralph and I enjoyed many happy times together.
