Charles Duncan Obituary

DUNCAN, Charles Kirk Duncan, 59, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008. The relatives and friends of Kirk Duncan are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:00p.m. in J Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel immediately following the memorial service. Kirk was born December 9, 1948, in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late Charles Wilson Duncan and Enid Constance Jones Duncan. Kirk was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, having graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. From there, Kirk served in the United States Army, where he attained rank of Second Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in 1973. Kirk was an owner of Duncan-Parnell, Inc., where he worked for 33 years. He was the manager of the South Carolina operations. Kirk was an avid fisherman and prolific arrowhead collector, who loved the Lowcountry and his annual trips with dear, lifelong friends to the Outer Banks. He loved games of chance and delighted in taking winnings from friends and family alike. Kirk's dry sense of humor left no one untouched, but always left you smiling and knowing you were loved. Surviving are Kirk's daughter, Katie Duncan of Isle of Palms, SC and his son, Marcus Duncan of Goose Creek, SC; two brothers, Daniel O. Duncan of Lake Wylie, SC, and Greg Duncan of Alabama; three nieces, Kelly Duncan of Los Angeles, CA, Laura D. Priestner of Sussex, NJ, and Elizabeth Palmer of Charlotte, NC; three nephews, Mark Duncan of Charlotte, NC, Stephen Duncan of New Jersey, and Franklin White of Missoula, MT; four grandnephews, David Hill and Damian Priestner of Sussex, NJ, Jack Duncan of Charlotte, NC, and Nathan White of Missoula, MT; and three grandnieces, Anna Duncan of Charlotte, NC, Grace Palmer of Lake Wylie, SC, and Mara White of Missoula, MT. Kirk was predeceased by his brother Thomas Duncan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, Hospice Center fund, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405. I remember meeting Laura's uncle when riding with her out to the Isle of Palms. A very kind and hospitable gentleman. May our Lord keep the family in His care during this difficult time.
