Charles Della Lana Obituary

Charles John Della Lana CHARLESTON - Charles John Della Lana, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 27, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, in the St. Clare of Assisi (Church of the Holy Cross), 299 Seven Farms Drive, at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Charles was born February 2, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey, son of the late Charles Della Lana and Joan Fleuren Della Lana. He graduated with a B.S. from St. Peter's College, and worked for 34 years as a research chemist at Colgate-Palmolive. After retiring, he moved to Seneca, SC, and was an avid Clemson fan. He spent many years as a volunteer for the Golden Corner Food Pantry in Seneca. Mostly, he will be remembered for the way he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Doris Ruth Meyer Della Lana of Charleston, SC; daughter, Catherine Taggart (Philip) of Strongsville, OH; sons, Charles N. Della Lana (Matthew Kilmer) of Columbus, OH, and Stephen Della Lana (Kenneth Graham) of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Dorothy Lydon of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Jeanne Marra of Tamarac, FL; five grandchildren, Christopher Taggart, Eva Della Lana (Andrew Culp), Steven Taggart (Jessica), Cady Della Lana, and Jennifer Taggart; and one great-grandchild, Aubrey Taggart. He was preceded in death by brother, John Della Lana. Memorials may be made to Golden Corner Food Pantry, PO Box 456, Seneca, SC 29679.
