I remember him fondly from my years at Goose Creek High. He was a kind and gentle soul. Greeted all of his students with a smile and a kind word. RIP Coach Davis!

My friendship with Charlie Davis began over 50 years ago at (now) Charleston Southern where he was on a Track and Field Scholarship. He was in Married student Housing. We crossed paths again when I took a job teaching at Goose Creek High.Through teaching, Coaching, and again as Guidance Counselor, we were friends and colleagues. He was never Charles, but known to all as Charlie. The beginning of every conversation with him was a discussion about Travis, Melissa, Shannon his children. Then 15 minutes later we were talking about students. Family first! He had a bond with students, totally devoted to doing the right thing as an advocate for kids. As an Assistant Principal I recall him recommending a student for
expulsion. After finding out the nature of her problems, at the last minute he went to the board meeting asking them to give her another chance. We later teamed up with John Fulmer, Virginia Van, under Sam Brant loving GCHS, teachers, students and parents. As Principal at Hanahan High, I became his Assistant Principal. The merger with half the Cainhoy High School students was the challenge he was born to fulfill. When I disciplined kids, Charlie gently reprimanded me for being too hard on kids. In addition to his own kids, Charlie gave his heart, and Christian Values to students, teachers, and Parents. There are many adjectives to describe Charlie. I called him "The Peace Maker". This is a short description of our collaboration in schools. Rest Dear Friend. I will see you on the other Side.
Your friend and Colleague,

When I came to Berkeley County in 2006 as the special education director Charlie welcomed me to the district with open arms. I had the privilege to work with him and he helped me grow as a leader. He was a "sermon in shoes" daily living his Christianity in all his actions and words. I'm blessed that God allowed him to be a part of my journey in this life. My condolences to his dear family. Rest in Peace Charlie. You made a huge difference in this world.

Condolences to all of Charlie's family, friends, students, players, and co-workers. As all of you know, Charlie was a treasure. I spent many weekends with Charlie, laughing, playing golf, and enjoying life. I will miss the stories, the wit, and the wisdom. I can only hope to be half the man, and friend, Charlie was to us all. I know Charlie dearly loved his family. Mainly because family was easily his favorite topic of conversation. Peace to you all. Treasure the memories. I know I am a better man for having known him. And Charlie, I'm still not giving you any strokes...

What a kind, unassuming, gentle man. He was always "Charlie", no matter what titles he held. When he spoke with you, there was no doubt that you had his full attention.
Charlie was principal when I worked at Hanahan High as their School Psychologist. He always made me feel valued, as he did with everyone. BCSD was so lucky to have had the gift of Charlie Davis. My condolences to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. I worked with him for years at Hanahan High School; first he was my principal; then when he went to the district office and I became the registrar he was my go to man for help. He was a fine man and students and staff in Berkeley County benefitted from his wisdom, experience, and kind heart. My condolences go to his family and friends. RIP.

Sending condolences to the Davis Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
Having worked in the BCSD for more than 45 years, I knew Mr. Davis was a kind and caring person. However, about 25 years ago, God used him in a mighty way in my life. He gave me some advice that forever changed the trajectory of my son's educational path. It seemed so simple to him, but to my son, it was life-altering, and for that, I thank God. Mr. Davis was a man of wisdom and compassion. He will always hold a special place in heart. I thank God for his life, and I know the angels are rejoicing in heaven.
