Charles Benton Obituary

Charles C. Benton SUMMERVILLE - Charles C. "Charlie" Benton, 83, of Summerville, husband of Donna W. Benton, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Moncks Corner Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 5 o'clock, at Salem Baptist Church, Summerville. Friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 3 o'clock until the hour of service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Salem Baptist Church, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville, South Carolina 29483. Mr. Benton was born January 5, 1928, in Charleston, son of the late Benjamin and Georgia Whitaker Benton. He attended Chicora High School. He served in the United States Merchant Marines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved children. He retired as a Iron worker and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are: one daughter: Joann Benton of Maryland, one son: John C. Benton of California, one grandson: Matthew Benton of California, two sisters: Louise Francis (Craig) of Charleston and Agnes Jones (Lloyd) of Goose Creek, several nieces and nephews. I only met Mr Charlie a few times when he came hunting at my house with another friend of mine,but it was all i needed to know that he was a kind and loving man of his children,family and his friends.I am sorry for your loss he will be missed.God Bless
