I wish to offer my deep condolences to Sam's family. My name is John Kuester. I served with Sam on the Clamagore and we went through the Chief's initiation together in Key West.
We spent many an hour together on Clamagore in the Sonar Shack and I came to appreciate Sam as a professional and like him personally.

In trying to not leave anyone out of my thoughts and prayers for Sam's family, I was struck by how large that family was, because he put his arms around and embraced so many people. To Liz, and to my brothers and sisters and your families, please know my family's heart goes out to you.

Words cannot soften your sorrow or lessen you sadness today But may you find comfort and solace as time goes along its way For the love of a wonderful father lives on in the heart through each year And death cannot mean you have lost him for in memory he'll always be here
