Cecil Jordan Obituary

Cecil Bryan Jordan ST. GEORGE - Cecil Bryan Jordan, 79, husband of Miriam Berry Jordan, entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Cecil was born, August 18, 1933, in Fairfax, SC, the oldest son of Edward Harold and Jenny Bryan Jordan. He graduated, in 1951, from Saint George High School, and from Clemson A&M College in 1955, with a B.S. in Dairy Science. Cecil brought his education home to serve the agricultural community as owner of Dorchester Tractor Company, a business established by his father in 1944 and operated along with his children and grandchildren. Cecil also served on the SC Agriculture Commission for the past 25 years and on the Low Country RC&D Board. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, a member, and Past Master, of Harmony Lodge 61, Past President of the Men's Bible Class of Saint George United Methodist Church, member of the Business Men's Club, and an avid supporter of Dorchester Academy. He also, for more than 40 years, hosted his good friends for spirited and lively contract bridge games. Cecil is survived by Miriam, his wife of 59 years; children T. Edward (Barbara) Jordan, C. Bryan (Joye) Jordan, Shirley J. (Joey) Westbury, all of Saint George, and W. Grady (Kim) Jordan, of Easley, SC. The pride of his life were his 11 grandchildren: Thomas E. Jordan, Jr., Rebecca D. Jordan, J. Andrew Jordan, Benjamin B. (Tiffany) Jordan, Grayson P. Jordan, Grier J. (Jeffrey) Collins, all of Saint George, Stephen G. Jordan and Austin C. Jordan, both of Easley, Morgan L. Westbury, Taylor K. Westbury, and Reese L. Westbury, and one great-grandson, Clayton W. Zeigler, also of Saint George. Also surviving are a brother, Colonel (Ret.) Lewis Edward (Kay) Jordan, Sr., USAF of Clemson, SC and a sister, Ruth J. (Ronnie) Melton of Easley, SC, as well as a special cousin, who was like a brother, Jones W. (Carolyn) Bryan, DVM, (retired) of Clemson, SC. The family will receive friends at the home, 308 Quaker Street, Saint George, SC., after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Memorial Baptist Church, with Masonic Rites. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 566 or Dorchester Academy, 234 Academy Road, Saint George, SC 29477.
