Janet and family,
Carroll was one of the nicest and kindest people I have known during my lifetime. I am sorry to hear that he is gone. May the peace of the Lord be with you at this difficult time. I feel fortunate for having known him and his family.

Janet-
Prayers and love to you and the children as Carroll Jr has passed on to a perfect eternity. My mom had dementia for about 10 years and she was able to stay home, but not without help from a caregiver and all of us children taking care of her. I cannot think of another disease more taxing and heartbreaking than this one and I applaud you for your love and persistence in doing everything you could for your husband
Carroll Jr has been a part of our Farnham tight knit group since first grade. While he has been physically away in SC, he has never been away from us in spirit or love.
Carroll Jr was always our academic leader and pushed us to excel, even when we believed we couldn't. He was also a very dear friend, a good listener when I needed it, and we enjoyed many moments of shared experiences and laughter, both at Farnham, Rappahannock and college.
The fond memories will never fade away.
With love,
-Kathleen

To the Gallagher family-
I am so sorry for your loss. Carroll was a professor of mine in dental school, then when I started my practice in Mt. Pleasant he was a colleague. Carroll was such a great teacher and mentor. When we would work together on a patient's treatment plan, he would come over to my office and systematically go over every aspect of the treatment plan and the rationale for it. He was kind, patient, and thoughtful. He was loved and respected by everyone in the dental community. Prayers for him and your family.
Sincerely,
Virginia Gregory

Janet, Katie and Scott,
Eleanor and I are sorry for your loss and we cherish our fond memories of Carroll.
Carroll was a remarkable person who I came to know when he learned to construct appliances for my pediatric patients. He was my favorite dental student because he wanted to learn everything about dentistry which Carroll accomplished by participating in extra opportunities offered by each specialty department. At graduation Carroll received almost every accolade presented by the specialty departments. As I'm sure you remember, Carroll seemed surprised and a little embarrassed each time his name was called but the awards were well deserved since they reflected all the additional effort he put forth learning all he could about his future career. Captain Carroll invited my dad and me for a fishing trip. We spent the day with his mom and dad aboard their boat fishing to our hearts content. Carroll's dad was hard of hearing so his mom would stomp her foot on the boat deck to get his attention. For some reason my dad thought this was hilarious. We all caught fish and my dad talked fondly for years about the Gallagher family treating us to a memorable fishing outing.
Thinking of you, Eleanor and Art Mourino

Dr. Gallagher was a wonderful teacher, friend and colleague. From my earliest days in Charleston he was one of the people that I looked up to and aspired to be. I was amazed not only by his knowledge in the operating room by how much he knew about about fishing. I never heard a poor word uttered about him. He will be missed but not forgotten.

My heart was warmed in knowing Dr. G and warmer still knowing he is making Heaven an even more beautiful place! See you, again, Captain Gallagher. Peg (and Derek) Walden.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing of this wonderful man. I passed by his former office this week at Azalea and Cosgrove Ave. and thought of him. I am a former MUSC nurse and when my son was 14 years old Dr. Gallagher performed his TMJ surgery. He was so gentle, professional and kind. I am very sad today at work. Please accept my sincere and deepest condolences. I am sad and I'm not even family so I know that you are very hurt by this loss. Thank you for sharing him with us. May the memories of him bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead. Love, Sherrell Nelson.

"Can I help you with that?" were the first words Carroll ever spoke to me, a stranger at the time. Over the years I learned that those words aptly described Carroll - he loved helping others, sharing his boundless knowledge and skills. Carroll was the best friend anyone could ever hope for.

Janet, my heart aches for you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss. You may or may not remember me, but I'm Ruth Rhoden's mom -- she used to babysit for Katie and Scott. I remember Scott being a ringbearer in her wedding. She loved you all very much, and you were so good to her. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there is anything I can do to help you through this tough time.
God loves you, and so do I,
Helena Bradford
