Carolyn Lucille Ray Metzger SUMMERVILLE - Mrs. Carolyn Lucille Ray Metzger, 70, of Summerville, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Life Care of Charleston. Mrs. Metzger was born in Charleston, SC, October 3, 1944. She was the loving, devoted wife of 51 years to Lt. Col. Frank L. Metzger (Ret. USAF), and wonderful mother to two children, Janice Metzger Jones (Summerville) and Frank Charles Metzger (Mt. Pleasant). Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren, William Reed Branton, Ryan A. Branton, Blake A. Metzger, and Bradley A Metzger. "Me-ma," as those closest to her called her, was full of spirit. She was a fighter and never let her health stand in her way. She always had time for family and friends. She loved gardening and flower arranging and always took great pride in her beautifully manicured yard. Her talent for decorating and interior design was apparent to anyone who visited her, and she was known throughout the Charleston area for her amazing Christmas decorations, which attracted people from all over the Charleston area. She would tell you, her proudest moments in life were the births of her four grandchildren, and she was heartbroken when she heard Elvis had passed in August 1977. She is predeceased by her mother, Nannie (Branham) Ray, her father, Charles "Charlie" Ray, and two brothers, Howard "Popeye" Ray and Samuel "Sammy" Ray. She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Metzger, brother John "Wayne" Ray (Monks Corner), sister, Barbara Ann "Molly" Sinclair (Loganville, GA), two children, Janice M. Jones (married to Jonathan Jones) and Frank C. Metzger, and four grandchildren, William Reed Branton, Ryan A. Branton, Blake A. Metzger, and Bradley A. Metzger. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 2 o'clock until hour of service. Funeral services will begin at 3 o'clock PM. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Susan G.
