Carolyn Medich Obituary

Carolyn Irene Medich MT. PLEASANT - Carolyn Irene Medich, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born in Flushing, New York. She and her husband, Joseph Medich, celebrated 51 wonderful years of marriage. She had two sons, William (Bill) and Christopher (Chris). Carol graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont. She had a career working at the Central Intelligence Agency abroad and in Washington DC. When she moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 1984, she continued her career, working with the Board of Trustees of the University of South Carolina. Carol truly believed in community service. Dedicated to voting rights, she worked for years in volunteer leadership positions for the League of Women's Voters in Columbia. She also spent time volunteering at the VA hospital in Columbia and welcoming new residents at The Palms in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Carol was a life-long Yankees fan and cheered loudly for the Lady Gamecocks. Being a grandmother was a role that gave her much pride and joy. She made elaborate Halloween costumes and Easter bunny cakes. She had an unbelievable memory and could recall details of any event at a moment's notice. She was an avid reader and Sudoku player. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Medich, her parents, Vera and Phil Fluhr and her brother, Tom Fluhr. She is survived by her sons, William Medich (Julie) of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina and Christopher Medich (Lynn) of Hamilton, New Zealand, her sister, Diane Keller of Mount Vernon, New York, and her grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Lauren and Emily. She had many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 11 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in the auditorium at The Palms of Mt.
