Carolyn Jones Obituary

Carolyn Poss Jones EVANS, GA - Mrs. Carolyn Poss Brailsford Jones, 81, died peacefully in her new home in Evans, GA on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Her devoted husband, William (Bill) Jones, was by her side. Carolyn was born in Augusta, GA on April 17, 1942. She was raised in Thomson, GA by her parents, Fannie Lou Poss and George Olive Poss. She graduated from Thomson High School and the University of Georgia at Athens with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. In 1964, she met and married Edward (Ed) DuBose Brailsford II (deceased and a former resident of Summerton, SC). They were married 40 years. Ed and Carolyn moved to Summerville, SC, where she taught elementary school for many years. They raised their two sons in their Tea Farm home and vacationed at their home on Kiawah Island. Carolyn valued and adored each member of her family and was a faithful church member. She made many friends everywhere she lived. She and her second husband, Bill, were happily married for eight years and completely devoted to each other. Bill cared for her unconditionally when she was ill. Besides her husband, Carolyn is survived by her two sons and their families: Edward D. Brailsford III and his wife, Denise Farris, live in Lincolnton, GA. They have two daughters, Moultrie Bailey Brailsford of Charleston, SC, and Brandon Elizabeth Bradford of Bamberg, SC, who is the mother of Halle Denise Bradford, Raelynn Elizabeth Hogan, and Teagan Renee Hogan. Her son, George Lucien Brailsford and his wife, Teresa Hubbard, live in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Their daughter, Charlotte Camilla Rosalie Brailsford, is a midshipman at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. A private grave-side service for family and friends was held on October 21, 2023 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Summerville. Afterwards, a family reception was held at "Linwood" in Summerville to celebrate Carolyn's life.
