Carole Keenan Obituary

Carole "Sunny" Keenan MT. PLEASANT - Carole "Sunny" Keenan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Mount Pleasant, SC, at the age of 55. She was born on July 16, 1955, in Illinois to Robert Curd and Dorothy Dailey. Sunny moved with her family at a young age to Sullivan's Island where she grew up riding her horses on the beach, playing guitar and singing in the Sullivan's Island Presbyterian Church Choir. She eventually settled in New York where she raised her two children. Sunny recently moved back South with her beloved dog, Jessie, to Mount Pleasant to reconnect with family and friends. Sunny enjoyed all aspects of life, but most important besides her family, was her love of music. She will always be remembered living her life with beauty and song. She is survived by her two children, Donica Nalbert of Ballston Spa, NY, and Stephen Nalbert of Brooklyn, NY; her mother Dorothy Dailey of Mount Pleasant, SC; and her five siblings, Robert Curd of Gore, VA, David Curd of Tempe, AZ, Michael Curd, of Green Lane, PA, James Curd of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Deborah Herbert, of Mount Pleasant, SC. A memorial service will be held at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church on Hibben Street, Tuesday, May 10, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of South Carolina, 107 Westpark Boulevard, Columbia, SC. Dear Curd Family and to Carole's children, from the picture and from other's shared thoughts, Sunny is the perfect name! All my love to each and everyone of you - I know in my heart you all will enjoy memories shared and will have stories to tell. Love, from one of the "older" cousins to the other "olders" and "youngers" as we've labled ourselves before. ox ox ox

I like to think we were Carole's second family at Bluewater ExxonMobile. Carole was hired into Buck Management/Bluewater in Jan 2009 and became a valued member of our management team until her passing. Carole's customers truly loved her and the nickname "Sunny" says it all. Carole will be missed greatly by us all.

Deborah, Now I know why you were in my heart yesterday. Thank you so much for introducing me to Carole. She was a strong spirit and I admired her love of life and her fondness for dogs, which we shared. When Carole moved back South, she could not have imagined that coming home would bring her not only closer to her roots, to you and to her Mom but then on to her real true Home. I try to remember that life is a journey and each stop along the way has a purpose. I know that Carole, like all of us, is still on her journey. Go peacfully Carole and may you travel with grace. Love and Hugs,
Regina

Donica,
Sorrow at the loss of a mother is hard to deal with for anyone. As the ebb and flow of emotions arise, remember the special times you have experienced and may they bring you some comfort and many smiles. You are a wonderful person and loved by all. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.
