Carola Sander McSwain ELLIJAY, GA - Carola Sander McSwain age 52 of Ellijay, GA died Tuesday Oct.6, 2015 at her home. Born in Summit, NJ on September 8, 1963 the daughter of Heinz Sander and the late Renada Sander. Carola graduated from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, SC and received her B.S. in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle University. Air Traffic Controller for the USAF stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany. Worked for Delta Airlines as a European International Flight Attendant. Serial entrepreneur and CEO of Internet Merchants. Captain in the Georgia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol serving as Communications Officer for the GA507th in Ellijay, Georgia. Received numerous awards and commendations throughout her career and community service. She was preceded in death by brother Teddy Sander. Survived by husband of 25 years, Gary McSwain and daughter Hannah McSwain. Sister and brother-in-law Regina and Marty Hendrix of Griffin, GA, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chris and Jemmy Lea McSwain of Surfside Beach, SC. Mother-in-law Evelyn McSwain of Murrells Inlet, SC. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday Oct 11, 2015 at 4pm in the chapel of Carolina Funeral Home in North Charleston, SC. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Carola is remembered for her love for Gary and Hannah, her love and commitment to the Lord Jesus, praying constantly for people, supporting Christian causes around the world, service to Civil Air Patrol, listening to and supporting IBN radio. We were unable to be with you to help "hold you and your family up." But please know that you WERE being held up before our Lord for the strength to make it through each day. What a blessing Carola was to our world! She will be missed but we celebrate her life eternal!

On the passing of my dear sweet sister in the Lord, Carola Sander McSwain.......Dearest Carola, Gary, Regina and Hannah, I cannot adequately express in words my grief in learning of my precious sister's passing. We were soul sisters in the truest sense of the word. People used to say we looked like sisters. Our texts to each other throughout the past few months sang of our hopes and prayers for a miracle...it was not to be. I know without question she is now in the arms of her precious Savior and Lord, whom she loved and so strongly exemplified, to me and to all she met. Beautiful in appearance and spirit, Carola was my dearest friend in Atlanta back when we met around 1990 in a small group at First Baptist Church. She was the most gentle, godly soul I had ever met in my life. I wanted to be just like her in every way. We shared a small and intimate prayer group, consisting of me, Carola, Gary, and two mutual friends from our small group, Tim and Susan. Her incredible wisdom, faith and indomitable spirit helped me through the end of one of the most difficult and painful relationships in my life...we dreamed of one day being neighbors at our beloved Edisto....dearest Carola, we will meet again "in the sweet by and by," on our floating lounge chairs down the Jordan, as we often chuckled...I love you with all my heart, and I thank you and the Lord for the gift and example of your life.
