Carol Traverse Obituary

Carol Traverse Summerville - Glenda "Carol" Traverse, 69, widow of Tom Traverse, of Summerville, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The relatives and friends of Carol Traverse are invited to attend a Gathering of Friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Friday, January 28, 2022 at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. She will be recognized by the Nurses Honor Guard of South Carolina at 10:00 AM. Masks are requested and social distancing is appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or to Berkeley or Dorchester County Animal Shelters. Carol was born in Beech Grove, IN on June 8, 1952. She was the daughter of Glen Morris Girdler and Shirley Jean Rudolph. Carol enjoyed a 40-year career as a registered nurse. In her free time, she loved scrapbooking, was an avid reader and audio book listener, an aspiring author and a lover of nature. Carol was a servant of the lord and was an active member in her church community, and above all, was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her daughters, Pauline Gunn (Alan) and Amber Traverse; grandchildren, Rylee, Ruby and Lilly; sisters, Jody Dudley and Melanie Miles; brothers, Todd Girdler and Mike Girdler as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, of 46 years; her parents, Glen and Shirley and her brother, Jim Girdler.
