When her parents left the Navy in 1945, they moved to Jack's hometown, Isle of Palms, SC. Carol Ann grew up on the Isle of Palms, and graduated from Bishop England High School in 1963. Upon graduating from high school, she entered the holy life as a novice at the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy in Charleston, SC, and began studying for a career in nursing. After deep reflection, Carol Ann recognized that God had a different plan for her, and she decided to further her academic studies in Nursing at the University of South Carolina. While attending the University of South Carolina, she met Sid, a Citadel Cadet, in 1968. They married two years later in 1970. Soon after getting married, Carol Ann began her nursing career that would span 50 years. Her deep faith shaped her nursing practice ensuring that all patients received compassionate and dignified care. She was beloved by co-workers and patients alike many of whom stayed in contact with her long after they exited her care. Carol Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in helping to care for her grandchildren following her retirement from nursing. Carol Ann had a unique ability to truly listen to people, to understand their perspectives and was a constant source of comfort and encouragement to her family and her friends. Additionally, she was an active member of her parish joyfully attending daily mass, assuming roles such as eucharistic minister, adoration, and religious instruction. Carol Ann lived her life with boundless joy and love. Her dedication to God, her family, and her friends demonstrated her unwavering faith. Carol Ann is preceded in death by her parents, John G. Bunch, II and Carmen R. Bunch. Carol is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Sidney Lee Allison; her children; Carmen Renee (Eddie) Allison-Riley of Mount Pleasant, SC; Griffin Lee Allison of Mount Pleasant, SC; and Mary Elizabeth (Bradford) Allison Walker of James Island, SC; and five grandchildren, Sidney Riley, Jack Riley, Braxton Allison, Porter Allison, and Curren Allison; and her brother, John G.
