Carlton Sheridan Obituary

Carlton Winstead Sheridan, 88, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. Born on October 23, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late John Eugene Winstead and Mable Hales Winstead. A devoted wife and mother, Carlton dedicated her life to caring for her family. She found joy and purpose in the act of nurturing her home; always putting the needs of her children and beloved husband first. Her steady presence, strength, and unwavering love were the foundation upon which her family thrived. Carlton was married to James Hunter Sheridan for 62 wonderful years, until his passing in 2020. Their marriage was a testament to lifelong commitment, partnership, and love. In addition to her devotion to family, Carlton had a creative spirit and a love for working with her hands. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, gardening, and cooking. These were gifts she shared generously with those around her. Her homemade meals, handmade quilts, and beautiful flower beds were just a few of the ways she spread her love to others. Carlton was also an active and faithful member of Summerville Baptist Church, where she was involved in many aspects of Church life and community. One of her favorite pastimes was playing dominos with her church group. She is survived by her loving children: Hunter Sheridan (Mary) and Cody Sheridan (Betsy); five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; as well as one sister and two brothers. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 11am to 12pm at Dorchester Memory Gardens Oakbrook Chapel, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485. The funeral service will begin at 12pm in the Chapel. Burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Ave, Summerville, SC 29483 or a charity of your choice.
