Carlotta Pearce Obituary

Carlotta Jenkins Pearce Mt. Pleasant - Carlotta Jenkins Pearce, 91, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Albert Pearce, died Saturday, August 15, 2015. Her Rite of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in the Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Carlotta is survived by Albert Pearce, her husband of 63 years. She is survived by two children, Jenny Vogler (and husband Steve) and Bert Pearce (and wife Anna). Her four grandchildren are Callie Vogler, Pearce Vogler, Michael Pearce, and Jana Pearce. Carlotta was born Carlotta FitzSimons Jenkins on October 9, 1923, to Carlotta Tighe (Muzzy) Jenkins and Edward Thomas Jenkins of Summerville, SC. Her two brothers were Terence Jenkins and Edward Jenkins. She graduated from Summerville High School in 1940 and attended Jacksonville Business School. Carlotta worked as an executive secretary at West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company and she worked with the United Service Organizations (USO) during World War II, entertaining servicemen on leave. She married Albert Pearce of Gainesville, GA, on February 16, 1952, and they moved to Mount Pleasant where they raised their family. Carlotta's faith was Roman Catholic and she was a dedicated parishioner of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed sports and was an accomplished basketball player and tennis player. She lettered on the Summerville Greenwave varsity women's basketball team for three years. Her ladies tennis team won the 1989 USTA 3.5 Seniors U.S. Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carlotta's other interests were gardening, reading, painting, wildlife, horseback riding, and her grandchildren. She introduced her son and daughter to two of their passions, birdwatching and horseback riding, respectively. She was a wonderful grandmother and is known to her grandchildren as "Sweet Grandmother" and "Youngsta." Flowers or a donation to Christ Our King Catholic Church,1149 Russell Drive, Mt.
