Carl Petters Obituary

Reverend Carl Eugene Petters SUMMERVILLE - Reverend Carl Eugene Petters, 89, joined his wife, Donna Lou Petters, in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 29, 2024. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on January 1, 1935, to Carl F. and Catharine Young Petters. After living in Lancaster as a young boy, his family moved to a farm in Conestoga, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from high school. He received a degree from Millersville State Teachers College, where he met his wife, and then entered the teaching profession. After marrying, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. On returning, he attended Faith Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and ministered for over 30 years as a pastor at Dover Bible Church in Ohio and Charleston Harbor Bible Church in South Carolina. Besides serving in the ministry and teaching, Carl retired from his work at the Citadel Military College in 2015 after 30 years of service. He touched many lives along the way as he faithfully provided for his family and served his Lord. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jenny Bostic. He is survived by his other three children, Mary Lou Petters, Deborah Bollmann (Kyle), and John Petters (Jessica); his sister, Charlene Walton; sixteen grandchildren: Daniel, Elizabeth, Joseph, Jonathan, and Stephen Bostic, Levi, Seth, Brittany (Lelm), Kimberly, Luke, and Micah Bollmann, John Curtis, Catherine, Jack, Caleb, and Clara Petters; one great-grandchild, and two more on the way. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services for Reverend Carl Eugene Petters, on Friday, March 8, 2024, in the Charleston Bible Church, 524 Arlington Dr., at 3:00 pm. The family will receive from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. The service will be available via Livestream. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 22, 2024, at Conestoga United Methodist Cemetery, Conestoga, PA. Updated information will be available at www.jhenrystur.com. My sincerest condolences to the entire Petters family! Mr
Carl was a ray of sunshine and a joy to be around! I am going to miss seeing him on the weekends sitting at the dining table or on his sofa watching Andy Griffith! I was one of his caregivers for many years, I also cared for his wife as well! To his children, John, Debbie and Mary Lou, you all did a great job caring for your father and mother. They are finally together again and enjoying each other's company! Hold on to all the memories that you shared with and of them! Weaping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning! Take care of each other!
