Carl Russell Blake, 74
     OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Carl Russell Blake, 74, formerly of Highland Avenue, died on Feb. 20, 2006 at the Maine Medical Center.
     He was born in Ellsworth Maine on Oct. 28, 1931, the son of Russell and Erla (Deering) Blake.
     As a boy, Carl attended schools in Belfast and graduated from Crosby High School.
     After graduating from High School, Carl enlisted in the US Navy. He had the privilege of being appointed to the Annapolis Naval Academy and West Point. Later, he attended the University of Maine.
     Before his retirement, he was working as assistant accountant at the JJ Nissen Bakery.
     Mr. Blake was active in Old Orchard Beach politics, the Old Orchard Beach Rescue for two years, and was a member of the Saco/Biddeford Elks.
     He enjoyed playing chess, cards, crossword puzzles, boating, swimming and drama in his younger years.
     He is survived by his sister, Andrea Dresser and her husband James of Old Orchard Beach; and three nephews.
     A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave., in Old Orchard Beach. Burial will be in the spring at Morrill Village Cemetery, Morrill.
