Burnet Mendelsohn Obituary

Burnet Mendelsohn CHARLESTON - Burnet Mendelsohn, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Jane Mirsky Mendelsohn, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 15, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 in Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Emanu-El Cemetery, Maryville. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Burnet was born August 6, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Harry Mendelsohn and Dorothy Bluestein Mendelsohn. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the former owner of Burnett Chevrolet and The Bandbox. Burnet was a member of many civic organizations. He was a Past President of Synagogue Emanu-El, Past Chairman Synagogue Emanu-El Cemetery Committee, Past President of the Hebrew Orphan Society, Founding Trustee of the Hibernian Foundation, Life Member of the Hibernian Society of Charleston, Past Chairman of the SC Foster Care Review Board, Past Charleston Board of Fire Masters, Past Chairman of the Charleston Memorial Hospital Board, Past President of the Rotary Club of North Charleston and the founder of the Breakfast Rotary Club of North Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane; three daughters: Beth Mendelsohn Ross (Michael) of Philadelphia, PA, Lynn Mendelsohn Dryzer (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Faye Mendelsohn Lebish (Craig) of Atlanta, GA; son, David Bruce Mendelsohn (Jennifer) of Charleston, SC; brother, Joseph S. Mendelsohn (Rhetta) of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren: Rabbi Daniel Ross, Hillary Gonzalez, Adrienne Ross, Danielle Dryzer, Michael Dryzer, Lauren Dryzer, Andrew Lebish and Sarah Lebish; and three great-grandchildren: Ari, Caleb and Adina.
