I know it has been a year but I just heard of Birds death. My family and I lived in Cheraw when I was young and we were friends with your family. I remember many times that I was over at your house with Rachel and Bird was often running around with my brother. On behalf of my family, I wanted to give your our deepest condolences. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Although it has been a long time I still have fond memories of Bird, and your family. God Bless

be missed. Don't let the memories fade.

Mr. & Mrs. Bourne, I only knew Bird for a short time through Michael and the Flints, but the short time that I did know him I could tell how wonderful of a person he was. He was so loving and giving everytime that I saw him. You and the family have been in my prayers and continue to be. Love, Holly Harrison

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bourne,

I knew Bird for about 4 years, and you have so much to be proud of, for lack of a better word. His smile and his grace are well known among his peers. No matter what he did, he was always the perfect gentleman. He was the type of person that you could say to him, "Hey, I need this, or I need that," and he was the first to jump up and offer to get it for you. He was and is a son to be proud of, and I am so grateful that I was blessed enough to cross his path in life. He still brings a smile to my face. His memory may bring tears, but for me it brings tears and laughter, because that is how he was, and still is. He loved to make people happy, and he is still doing it. I wish you so much love and strength during this time.

Mary Margaret,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Bird will surely live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. This is a quote we thought was appropriate in your time of need, “In the quiet moments when the hurt is hard to bear, may love become your shelter, and may the beauty of precious memories be your comfort.” May you know that you and your family are being held in our gentle thought and prayer. We love you all and are praying for you.

Sue Ella, I truly do not know what to say. I went to Cheraw this past weekend to spend it with Dad and to go to church with him. Brian

came by after church and told us of your loss. Dad and I are so sorry. I only met Bird once when he was really little. I remember when

you and Burney were still living in that little house beside the athletic field of the old high school on High Street. I stopped by to see you.

He was playing in the living room. We were ourselves still so young!

You and your family have been on my mind since yesterday and I have prayed for you and will continue to do so. I have always

treasured our friendship and wish I could see you to tell you myself. You are one of the most resourceful people I know and I

can see you turning your sorrow into a positive opportunity to further strengthen your love for your surviving family.

With an heavy heart I write this. I just wanted you to know you have my deepest sympathy.

I can't even begin to understand what you and your family are going through. I've only known Bird for about a year, when he and RaeAnn started dating. He stayed at my home several times and was always so polite and respectful. He had such a tender heart and was always so kind. I'll never forget the day he and Rae returned from shopping, she jumps out of the car mad about something, then Bird gets out and when I asked him what was wrong with RaeAnn, he simply said "I guess I didn't jump high enough". That was such a precious response.I also went to Clemson and spent Rae's 21st birthday with them, along with my other daughter and her boyfriend. We had such a good time, and I will always treasure the memories of that day. It seems so unfair to lose a child, but I firmly believe that God doesn't make mistakes.

He must have needed him and I believe Bird is in a heavenly place and we will all see him again. I will keep you in my prayers.

With deepest sympathy,

Kay Melton (RaeAnn's mom)
