Dear Carter family,
I cannot tell you how sorry I was to find out that "Mr. Buddy" had passed. I did not see the notice and missed the funeral, but could not help myself by trying to express my feelings for him. The Post and Courier ran them today under the Heading Mr Baseball in the editorials. I loved seeing Mr. Buddy at the fields for 22 years as I coached for JI rec and would see him at the fields at ST Andrews and WA. HE was the Man that everyone aspired to be like. I will deeply miss him and cannot truly express how much he impressed me and what it meant when we became friends at the baseball field. God has a special place for Mr. Buddy...and I hope someday to join him at the wonderful baseball field in Heaven.

Frankie, Randy & Tom: Mr. Buddy was one of the nicest gentleman we knew. Even though we lived in the adjoining neighborhood, we probably knew Mr. Buddy better from St. Andrews playground. It seemed like your family and our family was always there! Frankie, I can't tell you how much my heart breaks for you and your family. A very fine man will be remembered. God bless you all. Dear Frankee, Randy, Tom and family,
I am saddened to learn of Buddy's passing. For many years he has given his heart to us in so many ways and we are so appreciative. Through the playground connections our friendshp ties have been woven into a strong bind that will last forever. Thanks for sharing Buddy and allowing our hearts to grow stronger through his kindness and generosity. May God Bless y'all! Paul and Mottie

Dear Carter Family, my husband Dave and I have the enormous pleasure of knowing Buddy for many years when we were Stingray season ticket holders. Buddy was a true gentleman who spoke kindly of all. But his face lit up the most whenever we would ask how his wife and/or his family were doing. It was obvious they were the joy of his life! Nothing can lighten your suffering during this time but please know we are praying for Buddy and all of you. May God bless!

There are times when words are little consolation to the family. This is one of them but I still have to say that Dolly and I hope that you might find some comfort in knowing that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and that the memory of Buddy will serve as a blessing to all of you forever. I cherish all of the chats he and I had over the years both playing softball together and of course at St. Andrews where he was always "the guy".

We were all out in the vacant lot behind our house on Green Park Ave & Dogwood Road. All the kids in the neighborhood playing baseball, and Dad, who would pitch for both teams. I was playing first, and I remember this kid hit it right back to him - an easy grounder - Dad bobbled it, and didn't make the throw on time. I got so mad, I knew he bobbled it on purpose. But I look back, and that's the type of dad, and man, he was - he would take time out of his weekend to play baseball with the kids, and he would bobble a ball so that a kid could get on base. We love you Pap-Pap!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I will miss talking with Buddy at every Stingrays game. He was the kindest most gentle man. My husband and I would occasionally see him working at plays and concerts too. He didn't seem to enjoy the concerts as much. The last one we went to he showed us the schedule of the lineup. He asked what the band TNATF means. When I told him he said I'm getting too old for this Goodbye my sweet buddy. I will miss your smiling face and your hugs. My heart is broken. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

Mr. Buddy Carter was such a positive influence to so many people, especially kids and their parents. I always knew that baseball season was upon us when Buddy would walk through the door. I think of him as "Mr. Baseball". Whenever I would ask Buddy how he was doing, he would answer, "Oh pretty good, pretty good" no matter how he was really feeling. Buddy will be missed by me and by his entire St. Andrew's family!

I can't begin to tell you how sorry was to hear about Buddy. It was only 10 months ago he was at Kenny's funeral. Kenny always said he was his first friend when he joined the fire department. What a good time they had playing softball, no one could stretch on first base like him. They were a pair Kenny catching and Buddy on first. He also bragged how Buddy let him drive his car, something that was most unusual for him to do. Maybe they will have fun talking about old times.
My prayers are with you and the family.
