Brian Aiken Obituary

Brian Miller Aiken MT. PLEASANT - Brian Miller Aiken, 52, of Mount Pleasant, SC, went to his peaceful rest on Friday, June 23, 2023. Brian was a well-loved man, by his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. Brian, originally from Easley, SC, was a 1993 graduate of Clemson University where he earned a degree in Financial Management. He went on to pursue a career in banking and finally commercial real estate. He was Vice President of Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic in Charleston, SC, where he became known as one of the top commercial real estate brokers/developers in the region. His 25 years at Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic were instrumental in the growth and success of the company. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in his work. His will for success was unmatched. As much as he was a successful and dedicated businessman, Brian desired a simple life: good music, the open water, the beach, his family and friends. He was an avid runner, bike-rider, boater and fixer-upper. You would often find him biking around his home in Mount Pleasant, on his boat enjoying the saltwater, or taking on projects around the house. He had an eye for design and could figure just about anything out - from a broken-down boat to building his back porch patio. He loved his late dog Marley and his cat Hoppy. They were his beloved companions. Brian was a music man at heart. He was a self-taught musician, becoming a Charleston-local favorite and performed along with his bands at various venues throughout the Charleston area. His favorite instrument was the guitar, which he began playing in high school and never stopped. As talented a guitarist as he was, those who knew and loved him would likely say his tenor voice was his most beautiful gift. He found such joy in singing and playing. Sing-a-long was one of his favorite things to do with his sister and nieces, who lovingly refer to him as "Uncle Piggy." Brian was a man of integrity with a gentle and free spirit. To know him was to love him. He was a fun, genuine, and deep-thinking person. He was a good and reliable friend who could be called on when you needed him and he would show up. He was always interested in you and you knew what you were saying was important to him. Brian was truly everyone's favorite person, lighting up any room. He was predeceased by his father, Joe Aiken, his grandparents, Boyce and Lillian Miller and William and Mattie Aiken. He is survived by his mother, Mary Aiken Robbins, his sister, Stacey Aiken Garrison and her husband, his chosen brother Brian, and his beloved nieces, Olivia Catherine Garrison of New York City, New York and Chloe Miller Garrison of Atlanta, Georgia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Seacoast Church on Long Point Rd. in Mount Pleasant, SC on Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 5:30 PM. The chapel will open at 5 PM and friends and family are also invited to attend his service on Saturday July 15th at St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Easley, SC at 2 PM. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice. Memorials may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.

To the family, I am so sorry for this unexpected loss of an amazing person. Although we lost touch after we graduated, Brian was a big part of my life for a while in high school when we dated. He was a rock star - smart, likable and kind, athletic, musical, and tall and handsome. Gifted in so many ways. I'm sure he has touched countless lives over the years and I pray that his legacy lives on in the lives of those who loved him. Sending prayers of comfort in the days ahead. Gone too soon, BMA, you were loved and will be missed.

What a beautiful obituary. Unexpected to see Brian is no longer here to share his gifts. Too young. Although it's been many years since I've seen Brian, I remember everything the obituary shares. Sweet soul that loved to sing, play guitar, fix things up, and make you smile. A great loss. Condolences to his family co-workers and close friends.

I am beside myself! I saw the obituary on Facebook and had to read it twice. Brian was always the nicest guy in school. My heart goes out to his Mom and Stacey. I will be praying for the family in the days to come.

To Brian's mom and family. What a huge shock and what sadness this brings me. I worked with Brian for a short while at SCE&G, but most importantly Marley was one of our Golden Retriever puppies. We stayed in touch because of Marley. We lost touch in the past few years and this breaks my heart. We shared Clemson football stories and love of our school. When I had to bring my children to the office after school, or if they were sick, he could always make them smile. Sharing these times often brought bragging stories about his beautiful neices, complete with pictures. What an amazing "Uncle Piggy." Mom and Sister, he loved you so. This is an unbelievably difficult time. Mom,I share the sorrow of losing your son. I lost my son, Brett, in 2015. The hole in your heart is beyond comprehension. Your mind knows that "he is in a better place," or "you will see him again someday." But that doesn't really help that inconsolable pain so deep in your heart, and you really don't want people to tell you that. I know. Cry, pray, listen, hug, pray again, look at pictures, cry some more, but whatever you do get up, shower and get dressed every single day. I send hugs, prayers, and a promise that it will get easier to get up every day. It will get easier to share memories and pictures. A hug and a listening ear are always good, or a hug and just knowing you are not alone some days. Again, what a beautiful person lost way too soon. As a mom who suffers this loss, I will remember you and pray for you every single day. May God be with you and help your heart find peace. It's tough to think that is possible, but He promises to be with you and I know He will if you just reach out. Love and hugs to each of you! May God grant you a peace that passes all understanding. Love.

My heart is broken ! I love Brian and his family and have been a neighbor to His dad Joe for many years until he went to Heaven. I will always remember how sweet and kind Brian was to me and I was so excited when he decided to go to church with me on a Wednesday night hoping he would see Stuart Houston and he did . I loved seeing after his dad as a neighbor and friend while Joe was sick. Stacey and Brian were so kind to me . I miss Joe everyday and I have missed Brian coming by to see him and I would have the Joy of talking with Brian. Praying for his precious family. I love you all!

Brian was a guy I will remember forever. Even though we lost touch in the past few years I thought about him a lot. He taught me a lot, was a mentor, trust worthy, hilarious, & just the best guy. We shared a birth day & regardless of that he treated me like a brother for many very meaningful years in my young career. I looked up to him as he was brilliant with real estate finance, creative thinking, & deal engineering when it came to investment real estate. We spent many awesome times together including him taking me to my first Clemson game where I realized why he was probably the best male cheerleader ever created. He had unbelievable spirit for the tigers, life, & people. He loved people & people loved him. I owe a lot to Brian & I love him & miss him incredibly. I send my sincere sympathies to his family & all who knew him. We have lost a special special person & I just can´t believe it. See you in heaven my brother!
