Brent Matthews Obituary

Brent A. Matthews MT. PLEASANT - Born Nov. 1, 1951, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain. Brent has woven together, and boundlessly adored his extended family. His legacy will, forever, flow through them. His big smile, laugh, wit, and brilliance will be branded on our hearts, and missed for the rest of our lives. Brent will be painfully missed by his love, Lisa Chase; three incredible children, his daughter, Kelly; sons, William Brett (wife, Terri), Adam (wife, Jessica), his "surrogate" son, Chase Wells (wife, Jen); his beautiful grandchildren, Mallory and Owen (Brett and Terri), and Wyatt (Chase and Jen). Brent's sister, Sandra Carter (husband, Gerald), and brother, David (wife, Bet), will feel the absence of their little brother; as well as many close friends and those he touched with his kindness. Brent grew up in Forsyth County, NC, graduated from Methodist College with a double major in Business Administration and Chemistry. He was the founder and President of Diversified Foam, Inc. in Yadkinville, NC. Living life to its fullest, boating, fishing, travelling, celebrating life with his family and friends. A life well-lived and a spirit that will be forever missed. For all those who knew and loved Brent, there will be a luncheon to celebrate his life at his and Lisa's home in Mt. Pleasant, SC, on Sunday, February 25 from 12-3pm. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

Brent was one of the best men I've ever known. It seemed like he knew how to do everything and was always the first help his family and friends. He will forever be remembered and missed.
