Brenda Smith Obituary

Brenda Ackerman Smith FAIRFAX, VA - Brenda Ackerman Smith, formerly of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 14 in Fairfax, VA at the age of 81. Brenda was a graduate of St. George High School. She met her husband, Holland Smith, while working at the Naval Supply Center in Charleston. By the end of her career, she was working in the Industrial Relations office at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. They remained in the area and were long-time residents of Goose Creek, South Carolina. When Brenda was not occupied with children and grandchildren, she enjoyed singing hymns, attending Bible study, baking, completing puzzles and word searches. She was also an avid reader, loved watching her favorite sports, and enjoyed the companionship of many dear friends and family pets. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Davenport (Greg) of Centreville, VA, Pamela Arciva (Santos) of North Charleston, SC, and Anna Easler (Danny) of Pauline, SC. She was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Brenda is also survived by her sister, Judith Wagers; brothers, Stephen Ackerman and Philip Ackerman. She was predeceased by her husband, Holland Smith; daughter, Dana Lee Smith; sister, Nancy Jo Taylor; and her parents, William David and Nancy McAlhany Ackerman. A memorial service for Brenda will held at a later date.
