Brenda Pitts Obituary

Brenda O'Dell Pitts CHARLESTON - Brenda O'Dell Pitts, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Jerry Reid Pitts, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 7, 2025. Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Highway, at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Brenda was born November 30, 1939, in Newberry, South Carolina, daughter of the late Cecil Ralph O'Dell and Lula Mae Attaway O'Dell. She grew up in Joanna, SC, graduated from Clinton High School, and went on to obtain a degree in business from Winthrop College. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, and they lived briefly in Charlotte, NC, before settling in Charleston, SC, in 1965. Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Jerry Reid Pitts of Charleston; and their two children and spouses: Jerry Reid Pitts, Jr. (Teresa), and Amy Hanks (Jim). She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Haley Ex-Lubeskie (Connor), Calvin Hanks, and Cooper Hanks. She is also survived by a sister, Suzanne Dye of Covington, GA, and a brother, Jeffrey O'Dell of Gulf Breeze, FL. Brenda was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and her church choir. She taught Sunday School and served on many church committees. Brenda also enjoyed playing cards with friends. She was a homemaker throughout her adult life and volunteered at Roper St. Francis Hospital. She will be remembered for her generous heart and willingness to help others.
