Brenda Durrance Obituary

Brenda Sue Brown Durrance, 67, of St. Stephen, passed away Friday evening in a North Charleston hospital. Born on December 22, 1958, in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Walker Martin, Sr. and Hazel Ruth Nesbitt Martin. Brenda worked as a customer service representative at Brendle's Department Store and later became a circuit board assembler. She was a proud graduate with an associate's degree in business management and accounting and was of the Baptist faith.

Brenda enjoyed spending her free time playing color games on her phone, reading, and chatting with loved ones. She was an avid fan of television, especially crime shows, superhero action series, and classic favorites-"The Walking Dead" was among her top picks. Throughout her life, she cherished the companionship of her dogs and treasured visits with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Alyssa Emmens (Cory Christie) of St. Stephen; sisters-in-law, Pat Martin of St. Stephen and Barbara Martin of Russellville; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Tanya Osoria; brothers, J. Walker Martin, Jr. and William P. Martin; and sisters, Pauline "Tinker" Utter, Jackie M. Kirvin, Linda Kirvin, Sandra Gaskins, Donna Gaskins, and Vela Cumbee.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until the hour of service on Saturday.
