Brandon Upton SUMMERVILLE - Brandon Keith Upton, 41, of Summerville, SC, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2025. Born on September 14, 1983 in Portsmouth, Virginia, Brandon was known for his unique sense of humor and compassionate heart, which touched many lives across the United States. He graduated from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, VA in 2002. He was a dedicated public servant, beginning his law enforcement career in November 2006 with the Suffolk Police Department in Suffolk, VA. Brandon was promoted to detective and was a member of SWAT before leaving in 2015. He then joined the City of Folly Beach Public Safety Department, where he was quickly promoted to Major and was dual certified as a firefighter. Brandon's commitment to public safety and community service earned him numerous commendations and respect in his field. Brandon was a devoted husband to Lindsey Gayle Upton and a loving father to Skyler, Braelynn, and Landon. He is survived by his stepfather and mother, Lee and Cookie Livingston; father, Darryl Upton (Lori); sisters, Taylor Pilkington (Devon), Carley Barnes, Ashley Upton (Ashley), and Casey Mattei (Brian); and his brother from another mother, David Dick (Julie). He also leaves behind his grandmothers, Jo Matthews, Shirley Rose, Mary Livingston, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Billy Rose, Bobby Matthews, and Rudy Livingston. Brandon was a member of Riverbluff Church and found joy in training law enforcement recruits, hunting, and spending quality time in nature with his family and friends. His legacy of generosity and protection will be remembered by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 4 PM at the field next to the Farmhouse in The Ponds community, located at 326 Hundred Oaks Parkway, Summerville, SC 29483. The service will be followed by a reception in the Farmhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brandon's memory to www.heroesonthewater.org, supporting a cause close to his heart.
