Brandon Newcombe Obituary

Brandon Park Newcombe, 33, of Ionia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 16, 2014. He was born on April 7, 1981, the son of Karen (Erwin Fahrni) Hagerman/Newcombe and Lawrence Newcombe.

Brandon is survived by his spouse Melanie Newcombe, and his 8-year-old little princess, Teegan Marie; his right hand doggie Little Bear; brothers, Marty (Mike Hayden) Newcombe, Erik (Katelyn) Newcombe, Brent (Megan) Davis, and Brian (Misty) Davis; special cousins, Jason (Tiffany) Hagerman, Holly (Calob, Vanny Cummings) Rhynast; special father-in-law, Brad (Darcy) Davis, special mother-in-law, Kellie (Jack) Davis/Jeppsen; grandmothers, Mariam Hagerman, Joyce A. Troms, Janet Watson, and Caroline Newcombe; and aunts, Carol Sturm, Tammy Hagerman, Renee Adgate, and Heidi Newcombe.

Preceding him in death were his special grandfathers, Keith Hagerman and Kingsley Newcombe; and sister, Amy Kay Newcombe.

Brandon was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Iraqi Freedom War, and was the first front line to go out and fight this war, and for that he will always be our hero. He was very proud that he served as a Marine; to him that was one of the best accomplishments he made.

Brandon loved hunting, fishing, and most of all working on cars, especially his Mustang with his favorite friends, Sean and Phil Sinclair and Nick Dunkel.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Focus Marines Foundation, www.woundedwarriorregiment.org, in memory of Brandon. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.

As the oldest living (fourth generation) male in the Robert John Burgoyne Newcombe family in the United States, I am proud to include you in the history of our family. Your middle name, Park, is my first name in honor of your great grandfather. That name became known in Ionia County in the 1940s as a result of my Dad's "Park's Red and White Store" in Lyons, Michigan. He and Mom managed that store for four years before he entered the ministry. Years later he was assigned to the Portland Methodist Church. He was happy to be back in Ionia County. I believe this was one of the happiest times in my parents' lives.
Ionia county drafted me for the Korean War. Your Uncles Mike and Steve were Army veterans and you served Ionia county in the Marines during the Iraq War. We did what we could to keep the Newcombe name an honored one in Ionia County.
You were released from this world too soon and our family will miss you.
