The most important thing I loved about Brad was that he had made the Lord Jesus the Lord of his life. He always had a radiant smile and for such a young person had many of the fruits of the Holy Spirit maturing in his life. He inspired all who knew him and was not intimidated by those around him. I believe this was God in him. In the short time we knew him, these qualities enriched our lives. We will miss him very much. His family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Our love,

Brad was truly one of the most inspirational people I have ever known. He had a way of making others want to do better. He loved GOD, family and others in a magnanemous way. He had a smile that would light up the room. How fortunate we were to know him and to have him in our lives, if only for a short while. Julie, I know your loss is immeasurable. We pray for you and Catherine daily, and for your peace. God will be with you always and you will be reunited with Brad one day. As for Brad, Philippians 1:3, best describes how I feel about Him:" I thank my God upon every remembrance of you". Love Aunt Pam

Brad was our "son-in-law" which is the proper term in our society. However in our lives he was our son. He was the man that you want your daughter to marry and we were fortunate to have him in our family as our son for 7 years. We will always remember his beautiful smile and the wonderful way he always made us feel "special". He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and son and we will always love and miss him.

Julie,

18 months ago I was asked to reply in writing to a public forum about the War on Iraq. I did, and my response went like this . . .

“The more important question in a blog format is . . . are the sacrifices worth it? And when I hear the word sacrifice, I immediately think – personal sacrifices. For myself, I have to say yes, not knowing how or when this opinion may send me spiraling into a state of despair. I have two close people in my life in the Marines. One is my best friend’s husband. Her sacrifices are my sacrifices as our lives are intertwined . . . (I continued with a list of specifics) . . . There is not one aspect of their life that does not revolve around his commitment to US Military or the War on Iraq. All I can say is, “Thank you Brad. I am in awe of you and I will do all I can for Julie to help this sacrificial life the you two have chosen be as blessed as possible. I love you both.” Despair may come in an infinite number of packages. We are foolish to think we are safe from hardship no matter what life path we choose. I humbly admire those who elect a high-risk path for a greater good. And should despair become my portion due to the War on Iraq, I just pray that the Lord sustains me in my weakness. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. It is His call. No soul passes from this world to the next without His permissive will. We should not refuse to do the right thing for fear that God will do the “wrong thing” by taking someone we love. In the end, His will is always right and He is an active God.”

And now, my own words bring me comfort. Yes, despair has come, but not at the hands of the war. We have lost Brad, but God has not done the wrong thing by us. I love you immeasurably and I will continue to try to carry your burdens as much as one human can do for another until one of us departs for Heaven. You are not alone.

I love you.

Hey there, Julie. I heard about what happened through your friend Dana. May I say how sorry I am for your loss? I am praying for you and your baby daughter that you would know the great love of our Father in heaven more than ever before. May you feel the Father's touch in your soul today and every day, and I pray that you would experience God lifting you and your burden and carrying both through this time. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you peace, friend. May goodness and lovingkindness flow into your life in superabundance, and may you know the loving comfort of God through many friends and family members. By the way, I'm glad that you have a friend like Dana to stand with you. Though I don't know either of you, it is plain through what I see that she loves you very much. Lucky you! Cheers, friend.

Julie,
I didn't know you or Brad, but through Dana's Sharing I have learned just a bit about you both. I know it doesn't ease the pain, but I am proud of your husband and I consider him an American Hero. You and Catherine are in my prayers and as sorrowful as this time is, take heart in the knowledge that you will be together again one day when the Lord calls us home. God bless you both.

So very sorry to hear of your loss...I know words can never express the deep sorrow felt for you and by you. I pray that God would be sufficient at this time and that you would feel the freedom you need to say to Him what is truely on your heart. He can handle it and He already knows what's there anyway! Much love to you!

My thoughts and prayers are with Julie, Catherine and the Walters family tonight as I have just heard the terrible news.

Brad and I were friends during childhood, spending many vacation days together when our families would travel. I have very fond memories of my time with him and to this day can't take a vacation anywhere in the world without thinking of him or the Walters family.
Sadley we have not kept in touch very often over the years as we both pursued our careers and started families. It seems as though Bradly had grown into a very successful, generous man with a wonderful family and someone I would have liked to have gotten to know all over again as an adult.

God Bless and be strong

I met Brad in high school. I'm not sure I would've survived Algebra II without him. I was so impressed that not only did he know at such a young age that he wanted to be a pilot, but he also knew what was required to reach this goal, and committed himself to doing so very early in his life. He was a good friend, and a hard worker. I used to go out of my way to drive past Green's Produce just to see if he was working (he almost always was). I feel very lucky to have known Brad at all. To the Walters family: It takes amazing people to raise such a great man. To Julie, though I've not had the honor of meeting you, as a Marine wife myself, I know you are an amazing woman. My sincerest condolences to all of you.

Dearest Alexandra and family -
Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Being a military wife - I know we are all of the same big family. Brad went to be with our Lord doing what he loved and serving our wonderful country. I know he will be missed by all. Each and every time you see a beautiful flower, a tree blowing gently in the breeze or a bright and beautiful day, know in your hearts that he is smiling down on you all.

I attended elementary through high school with Brad in Arlington and I was deeply saddened when I heard of his death. Brad was one of those rare individuals who knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life from a young age and went on to accomplish his dreams without wavering in his conviction. I am proud to have known him. My prayers are with him, his wife, young daughter and all of his family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that fond memories of such a beautiful soul will comfort all of you in this sad time.

It was an honor and a privilege to know Brad. I can always remember how happy both Julie and Brad were when they were together and it seemed even more obvious since the birth of their little girl. Brad was a great American, a great Marine, but overall just a great individual. His memory will stay with me forever and I know Catherine will grow up knowing what a wonderful person her father was. My thoughts and prayers are with Julie, Catherine, and the family. All my love.

I know Julie and Brad through my dear friend, Dana Harrington. Although I had the pleasure of meeting Brad only once and have been in Julie's presence only a few times, God has laid this family on my heart continually since Dana called me Thursday night to tell me Brad's helicopter was missing and to ask for my prayers. Julie, Catherine and Walters/Brigman family: I will continue to pray for you as God walks you through this journey. May He constantly give you peace beyond your understanding as Brad experiences his eternal reward.

Brad is one of the most unique persons you will ever meet. The first time I met Brad was in 7th grade football. Boy could he hit those pads! He was the strongest and one of the best athletes on the team. He always had this will about him with that caring and giving persona. I remember one time his bird flew out the door and it took us two days to get it back and he never gave up. All he could say is my dad is not going to be happy if I don’t get that bird back before he gets back in town.

All he wanted to do was become a pilot in the military. I was so happy for him when we spoke in his parent’s front yard after he graduated from military school. Every time I go down Fielder Rd. I always look for him and always will.
