Bradford Smith Obituary

Bradford "Brad" Allen Smith N. CHARLESTON - Bradford "Brad" Allen Smith, 63, of North Charleston passed away on May 18, 2014, at his residence. Brad was born on March 16, 1951, to George Anthony and Eleanor Gleaton Smith in Columbia, SC. He attended the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard after working there for over 30 years. He was a diehard sports fan and always pulled for the NY Yankees and the USC Gamecocks. He also enjoyed traveling so much that he made it a point to visit all fifty states in his lifetime. Brad is survived by his mother, Eleanor; his sister, Cheryl Isaac; brother-in-law, Joe Isaac; his nephew and future niece-in-law, Anthony Isaac and Natasha Weathers. He is also survived by his loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Smith; a daughter, Kristy Rae Smith; and a nephew, Joseph T. Isaac III. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Brad's name to The Walker Foundation, South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, 335 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302, 864-577-7583. A graveside service is being held privately by the family. Brad will be missed very much. I worked with Brad for 24 years at Charleston Naval Base(NPPSO). He taught me so much about the life of a person who had challenges and could still perservere. He always inquired about my daughter and how she was doing in school.He thought the world of his nephews and was so proud of them.We grieved with him in the loss of his daughter and nephew.He was a wonderful persona and a good friend to many.

I had wonderful chat with Brad, no wonder I couldn't get hold on Video Phone. He seems a wonderful man to chat with. He told me he enjoyed different states to see Deaf school.
