Brad Harris Obituary

Matt. 25:23"...well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord."

November 3, 1971 - October 28, 2011

Of all his roles, Eagle Scout, cyclist, artist, counselor, archer, soldier, adventurer, teacher, Scout Master, statistical analyst, son, brother, and friend, Brad's favorite was Daddy. His greatest fans are Kalinda, James, Darby, and Bryssa. He leaves them in the capable hands of the love of his life, Angela Humble Harris and her support system of family and friends. We all know full well his dedication to the Savior Jesus Christ, his industry, devotion and love for Angela and their four beautiful children. His service as a London missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was exemplary.

A viewing will be held Wednesday night, November 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary. An additional viewing will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Services starting at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 24915 Peachland Ave., Newhall, Ca., 91321. In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to Brad Harris Memorial Fund: Wells Fargo Bank, Contact Wayne Goeckeritz, 661-803-5587.

First, let me start by saying I am so very sorry for the loss. It's tragic and after reading all of these comments I realize that he truly was a great man. I work for USC's news website and am actually writing a report on motorcycle accidents that occur on CA highways. I would love to talk to someone who knew Brad personally. I'm not looking to discuss the accident or his death, rather I want to talk about his life and what he was like as a person. With this report I want to show that the people who die in these crashes aren't just statistics, they are actual people and should be remembered as that.

Please let me know if you might be interested in taking a few minutes to discuss this great man's life with me. I would love to be able to write his story. I can be reached via email at [email protected] and greatly appreciate any information you can provide.

My sincere prayers to Brad's family. Brad was a wonderful manager.I knew him only for a few months, and I still cannot believe he is no longer with us. I am still reminded of him whenever I pass his office (where he used to sit) and more so when I see a biker on the road...

I have so many memories of Brad. He was my friend all through my teenage years. He was the Senior Patrol Leader and I was his Assistant. I don't remember him ever being anything but an example. He stood up for me when others were cruel, was my friend when I didn't have many that were. I can't say how much I respect and admire him, and how many times over the years I've leaned on his Christlike example. We haven't been in contact for quite a while, but I am grateful for every memory I have of him. My prayers are with him and his family.

Brad Harris was a great man and an example to all of the young men that he led. I will ever remember the great adventures he took us on as scouts, the fun times we had. But most importantly I will remember how he magnified his calling and took his duty seriously to watch over us boys. I looked up to him then, and I still do today. He was a man who knew the scriptures and lived them. He followed the prophet with exactness. I will greatly miss him as he passes on to return to the God that he devoted his life to.

Dear Roland, Janet & children; Angela & children:

You are all very much in our thoughts and prayers as you say goodbye to Brad and Baby Joel for awhile.

The last time we saw Brad was at your mission farewell, Roland and Janet. Our hearts were touched as we read the beautifully written obituary and learning about his interests, accomplishments, and family dedication. He influenced many lives and will truly be missed.

May God's choicest blessings be with you now and always.

The day after hearing about Brad's passing, I went out for my new routine bicycle ride in Sacramento. As I first started down the connecting trail, I was immediately cutoff by two bikers who turned a sharp corner without looking. I skidded to a stop to avoid them.....one passing older biker commented to me: "thanks a lot, right?" I just smiled and chuckled because I knew this was not an ordinary day. Later in my ride, a group of bikers were approaching from behind. I heard the voice of one biker who was apparently coaching them. As they overtook me, there was a large hawk that hovered directly over our heads. The coach biker commented, "that's a big one." At this point, I knew Brad was indeed along for the ride today. I drafted them for a short time, observing their directions from the coach. I waited for an opening and as though not needing to be said, I thought to myself "this one's for Brad". I passed the group and left them far behind.
