Brad Ames Obituary

Brad Ames Charleston - Brad Schuyler Ames, 73, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Eileen Ashcroft Ames, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd. at 1:00 pm. Rite of Committal will immediately follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Columbarium. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel. Brad was born October 1, 1948 in Warsaw, New York, son of the late Robert Schuyler Ames and Elizabeth Dusenberry Ames. Brad graduated from Skaneateles High School, New York in 1967, and then attended State University of NY at Canton, NY, where he obtained his Associate degree in Automotive Technology in 1969. He then worked in that field in Syracuse, NY. In 1974, Brad returned to State University of NY at Oswego, NY, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Education. Brad married Eileen in 1973 in Camillus, NY. Brad proceeded to educate high school students at BOCES in Mineville, NY until 1976, when he relocated to educate community college students at Bladen County Community College, NC. In 1983, Brad started working for United Technologies, where he installed and educated customers on automotive diagnostic machines and point of sale terminals around the U.S. He moved with his family in 1983 to Tucson, AZ, where he continued installing equipment in the US. Brad gave up traveling and was employed at a Toyota dealership in Tucson. 1997 brought a move to Charleston, SC, where he was employed by Radio Shack until his retirement in November, 2014. Brad was a consummate educator teaching his customers how items operated. Even though he was retired, he joined the St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul organization at his church, where he assisted with the food pantry serving clients in the St. Joseph Parish area. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kimberly A. Ames of Stowe, PA and Jennifer M. Ames of Charleston, SC; grandson, Gabriel I. Belfiore of Stowe, PA; sister, Sarah E. Ames & Michael Rollinger of Olympia, WA; brothers-in-law, J.J. Ashcroft II & Margaret Ashcroft of Dawsonville, GA, Timothy D. Ashcroft & Pat Ashcroft of Tallahassee, FL, and Kevin M. Ashcroft & Dana Ashcroft of Jacksonville, FL; also multiple cousins, nieces and nephews around the country. Brad is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Anthony Belfiore of Stowe, PA; and father and mother-in-law, J.J. Ashcroft and E. Margaret Ashcroft of Charleston, SC. Memorial donations may be made in Brad's honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407. Eileen and family. Sorry to hear of your loss. Brad and I were good friends when he went to high school in Skaneateles, NY. We shared a lot of good times at the car races and enjoyed working on cars together.
